Georgetown — 9 nights

Garden City of the Caribbean

Guyana's capital and main urban area, Georgetown represents the starting point for many visits to the country.
Get a sense of the local culture at St. George's Cathedral and Pandama Retreat & Winery. Get some historical perspective at Georgetown Lighthouse and Radha Krishna Mandir. Spend the 3rd (Tue) exploring nature at Guyana National Park. There's still lots to do: see what you can catch with Blackwater Adventures, browse the exhibits of Walter Roth Museum of Anthropology, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Vreed-En-Hoop Mosque.

To find reviews, more things to do, where to stay, and tourist information, refer to the Georgetown sightseeing planner.

Toronto, Canada to Georgetown is an approximately 11.5-hour flight. The time zone difference moving from Eastern Standard Time (EST) to Guyana Time (GYT) is 1 hour. Plan for much warmer temperatures traveling from Toronto in December, with highs in Georgetown at 34°C and lows at 30°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 7th (Sat) to allow enough time to fly back home.
