Chuncheon — 3 nights

The capital of the country's northernmost province, the city of Chuncheon acts a gateway to the wilder sights of the rural region.
Kick off your visit on the 29th (Sat): admire the natural beauty at Jade Garden Natural Arboretum, head off the coast to Nami Island, and then find something for the whole family at Petite France. Here are some ideas for day two: find something for the whole family at Gangchon Rail Park, take a stroll through Chuncheon Myeongdong Street, and then visit Chuncheon Myeongdong Dakgalbi Street.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Chuncheon is an approximately 14.5-hour combination of flight and car. You can also drive. The time zone difference moving from Malaysia Time to Korean Standard Time is 1 hour. Traveling from Kuala Lumpur in October, expect Chuncheon to be much colder, temps between 23°C and 11°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 31st (Mon) early enough to go by car to Pyeongchang-gun.

Getting from Chuncheon to Pyeongchang-gun by car takes about 2 hours. Other options: take a bus; or do a combination of train and taxi. When traveling from Chuncheon in October, plan for slightly colder days and a bit warmer nights in Pyeongchang-gun: temperatures range from 19°C by day to 15°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 2nd (Wed) early enough to take a train to Gangneung.

A large coastal city, Gangneung has been historically separated from much of the country because of the long, stretching mountain range that runs parallel to the sea.
Kick off your visit on the 2nd (Wed): see the interesting displays at Haslla Art World, kick back and relax at Jeongdongjin Beach, and then stroll around Tongil Park (Unification Park). On your second day here, see the interesting displays at Ojukheon, then steep yourself in history at Gangneung Seongyojang, and then engage your brain at Charmsori Gramophone & Edison Science Museum.

Traveling by train from Pyeongchang-gun to Gangneung takes an hour. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 4th (Fri) so you can go by car to Sokcho.
