Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
On the 27th (Mon), don't miss a visit to Pantheon, then make a trip to Trevi Fountain, then contemplate the long history of Palatine Hill, and finally delve into the distant past at Colosseum. On the 28th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: pause for some serene contemplation at Basilica di San Pietro, then explore the galleries of Vatican Museums, and then appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza Navona.

Seattle, USA to Rome is an approximately 16.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of shuttle and flight; or do a combination of train and flight. You'll lose 9 hours traveling from Seattle to Rome due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Seattle in August, expect Rome to be somewhat warmer, temps between 90°F and 69°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 29th (Wed) so you can catch the train to Florence.

Start off your visit on the 31st (Fri): explore the activities along Canal Grande, admire the landmark architecture of Basilica di San Marco, and then admire the landmark architecture of Porta della Carta.
