Southern Poland travel guide

4.5
With mountains lining its southwestern border and Krakow at its center, it’s easy to see why Southern Poland drives tourism in the country. Along the border with Slovakia, the snowy Tatra Mountains loom over the region. Krakow, once the royal capital of Poland, delights architecturally. For history buffs, the city has strong Jewish roots, and the devastation of the Holocaust is still keenly felt in a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau, one of the most disturbing and important attractions in the country. Wroclaw, Zakopane, Katowice, and Karpacz are other great places to visit.
