Queen's Park Savannah, Port of Spain
(3.9/5 based on 420+ reviews on the web)
When in Port of Spain, head to Queen's Park Savannah for some rest or recreation. The vast 110 hectares (260 acres) originally served as a sugar estate; later purchased as public land, it became a park by the mid 19th century. You may barely notice, but around it circles the world's largest traffic roundabout. The wide swath of low grass sits in the city's most affluent neighborhood, surrounded by notable buildings. Have a picnic, people-watch, or join the crowd of locals who gather there to stroll, jog, hang out with family, or snack on some street food. • Nice and safe park to walk or do some supersizes when on a vacation. On walking distance of the Kapok hotel. Along the side there are a art school, the magnificent seven a zoo and a botanical garden. ...  more »
  • A vast open green space within the city. Used mainly for cricket, walking the dog and jogging. The park is surrounded by very nice buildings. Just for that reason alone, it is very nice to walk around...  more »
  • A must-do for all visitors is a walk round the Savannah. Clockwise for the many, anti-clock for the rebels - you see some sights on the way round.

  • This Savannah has been at the heart of the City since it's founding. It has hosted horse racing, refugees and of course the yearly Carnival celebrations over its storied history. It's cool paths open spaces and manicured gardens invite you to stop and rest and the running path around it is great for an evening run. In fact an increase in the volume of people running is a fairly good indicator of Carnival's approach! If your in POS try to walk the Savannah and take in all the attractions that surround it.
  • The Queen's Park Savannah is home to the worlds largest round about. Beautiful scenery mixed with a plethora of fast food vendors and coconut water to go makes this location premier for an evening chill. Its 2.5 mile roundabout also makes this location prime for a good old fashion jog.
  • This place is great. The entire city traverses by it at least once in any given day. I think it is the largest turning circle on the planet, or was at one time. I think it is over a mile across, maybe a mile and half. You can find tourists strolling, lovers canoodling, vendors, sight seers, lovers, folks playin' sports, people practicing pan music, shark and bake and more here. Great place to sunset gather for free entertainment.
  • World's largest roundabout. So many activities happen here: jogging, football, cricket, kite flying, picnics, concerts, a variety of food outlets but unfortunately if it's really late - crime
  • Largest Roundabout in the world. Nice local foods at night. A popular place to exercise.
