Queen's Park Savannah, Port of Spain

Nature / Park Must See
When in Port of Spain, head to Queen's Park Savannah for some rest or recreation. The vast 110 hectares (260 acres) originally served as a sugar estate; later purchased as public land, it became a park by the mid 19th century. You may barely notice, but around it circles the world's largest traffic roundabout. The wide swath of low grass sits in the city's most affluent neighborhood, surrounded by notable buildings. Have a picnic, people-watch, or join the crowd of locals who gather there to stroll, jog, hang out with family, or snack on some street food. • Almost nobody was there when I walked through a little after noon. It was not worth staying. Maybe it picks up in the evening or on weekends. It it mostly a vast expanse of grass punctuated by soccer ...  more »
  • Queen’s Park Savannah is quite the heart of Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. An enormous space of over 250 acres of flat land (about 3 miles/5km in circumference), Joggers and coconut vendors in the morning, ...  more »
  • There is one big traffic circle around this park. I was warned that it wasn't safe to really walk around in the park itself so I just walked the outside over 2 miles around. Lots of the interesting gi...  more »

  • The paved area of this famous landmark of Queens Park Savannah is a great location to spend quality time with the family, significant other or group lime. The ambience is just right. There are several food vendors on site from which you can choose from an assortment of morsels. The entire perimeter and area of this former estate serves ideally for those living or trying to live a healthy regimen. Throughout the year, events are kept here from time to time eg carnival activities, kite flying competition, independence day parade for patriots, concerts etc. Has a historical past.
  • A lovely Savannah that gives a good break from the bustling city life. There's lots of benches and shade, perfect for a picnic. Moreover, the outside Lane has been converted to a bike lane.
  • Lovely historical place. But the traffic and public treat it poorly. I won't rate it down for that but I would hope the governing body take care of it more. It's widely known and popular to not just locals but foreigners as a historical and important landmark
  • Q.P. Savannah night life is great. A variety of stalls selling various delicious dishes. Great, relaxing liming spot when you want to unwind with family and friends.
  • The Caribbean may be even the world's largest roundabout. A natural grassland with few trees in the middle allowing for many sport activities to be practised opened to the public. Many historic sites like White House, Queens Royal College, Emperor Valley Zoo, Botanic Gardens, Queens Hall (theater), Hilton Hotel (great panoramic view), NAPA - northern academy of the performing arts etc. are scattered around this green grassland in Port of Spain. 😍
