St Joseph's Cathedral, Neiafu

Categories: Churches, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.2/5 based on 20+ reviews on the web
It's hard to miss the colonial-style whitewashed facade of St Joseph's Cathedral peering over treetops onto the nearby harbor. The Catholic church's striking yet unpretentious exterior welcomes visitors, and while the interior may seem understated, the service here is anything but. Locals gather in their Sunday best to attend mass and listen to choir belt out beautiful harmonies. You're welcome to visit during non-service times, as well. Look for a small section in the back of the cathedral, where you can look inside. Add St Joseph's Cathedral and other attractions to your Neiafu trip itinerary using our Neiafu trip generator.

  • the church is at the highest point of Neiafu. Can see the church anywhere. A nice place to visit even not a Christian. I missed the Sunday mass, will visit next time.
  • Sunday mass is well worth the experience, as the harmonizing of the singing is superb, makes it a special visit.
  • We visited this church and where surprised to find such a nice and big building. You can just go there and have a look yourself, the door is open.
