National Museum, Lome

History Museum · Museum
Explore Togo's prehistory and colonial era at National Museum, which strives to preserve the nation's identity and culture. A Chinese merchant and collector currently runs the museum, which pairs relics from the two different time periods. Although modest in size and a bit run-down, the informative collection of paintings, pottery, textiles, and musical instruments remains an important monument to a relatively poorly documented national history. You can ask assistance from guides for more insight into the country's anthropological, ethnographic, and natural aspects. Using our international travel planner, Lome attractions like National Museum can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Is an interesting place to visit if your in lome. The artifacts day way back before the colonial era. The tour guide made good effort to explain to us despite language barrier. In all is a must visit location and is in the centre of the city . I and my friends had fun.
  • Centre of art in Lome at the historical centre of the capital city of Togo and at the same time administrative, financial and commercial centre. You can find there art objects, sculpture, painting, clothe. The area is close to centre of Lome where you find the central market called "Assiganme", Ministries, Supermarkets, Bus Terminals, Railway Station, Banks, a five Star Hotel called " Hotel du 2 Fevrier" formerly Radisson Blu Hotel, the Hotel de Ville, City Hall, Embassies, and the first Presidential Palace. Go there whenever you are in Lome. All these buildings are in the most vibrant and lovely place of Togo and at a walking distance from each other.
