  • Great Museum, on both sides. Very interesting if you have time. The entry was included in my Museum Pass. To be honest, we can dispense with the Museum as there are beautiful things to do next. Multiple mills and small free to visit on-site museums occupy a good half day. On the other hand, if it's raining or you are interested in the very clear explanations on the site of the mills, will see this great Museum. Do not miss, animation sets of lights to 12:00 and the reconstitution of a fantastic cookies/chocolate factory.

  • I liked the look back into culture, history and food. Almost made me want to work for them. The videos were well done the family histories were interesting. I also liked the antique knick Naka they ha...  more »

  • A beautiful exhibition of the history of the zaans region and its heritage. Very interesting and put out very profoundly. You learn here about the economic development of the area and the different Dutch companies which became icon in the Dutch economy. There are also houses and the windmills open to visit. Highly recommended.
  • Where: Zaans Schans Windmills, Netherlands What: A tour of the old style windmills How was it: It's really great they can keep this history alive. We really enjoyed the village and walking around. Sadly we were with a tour bus for the day so we were timed. They did leave us x amount of time to roam as we liked. You can spend the whole morning or afternoon here if you like. The views are peaceful and make you travel in a different time. We love it and glad we could experience it. Grade: Eli = 5, Serge = 5 Recommend: Yes, you have to visit this place when you're in Amsterdam.
  • I loved it. As much as i want to have a longer time here, but i have limited time. So i prefer to the mills around the museum. Expect to see some history of cookies etc. The minor part is you have to pay for getting in.
  • Great museum of the Zaan's area history with old houses and mills and lots of wildlife swimming and flying around. The museum shows all the production history of this region and includes 3 lines of the famous Varcade factory: buiscuetts, chocolate and resins. You can play, taste (one piece) and buy the chocolates at the visitor's store.
  • Beautiful place in Zaanse schans. Amazing experience.
