  • Our family had a better time at Zaans Schanes vs the museum and verkade experience...stick to the free park vs the museum. Its not worth the extra money for the pass.  more »
  • We visited the Zaans Museum with the associated Verkade Experience. In this last one has a part of the working older machine in operation. A truly unique event. One can see how in the past the well-known Verkade cake was produced. Over the remainder of the museum we can brief. Lots of stuff from the rich industrial past of Zaandam and the surrounding area.

  • In this museum is told the creation of productions of the area and the history of the people who matches the Zaan also expanded its activities in the Netherlands. Inside there are two permanent exhibitions, a focused on the history of plant community Zaan and another dedicated to Verkade, firm still exists a producer of biscuits and chocolate. Inside the Museum the path is guided by an audio guide available in many languages but it has too many hotspots that are not linked to audio content that should be removed or added so as not to ruin the continuity of the path. The first permanent exhibition areas are 3 (products of the Zaan, people of the Zaan and the birth of the culture of the Zaan) Unlike in the Verkade Experience production machines are played of biscuits, chocolate and wax, in addition to boxes in which they were sold. An experience informative and useful in understanding the nature of Zaanse Schans.

  • A beautiful exhibition of the history of the zaans region and its heritage. Very interesting and put out very profoundly. You learn here about the economic development of the area and the different Dutch companies which became icon in the Dutch economy. There are also houses and the windmills open to visit. Highly recommended.
  • Where: Zaans Schans Windmills, Netherlands What: A tour of the old style windmills How was it: It's really great they can keep this history alive. We really enjoyed the village and walking around. Sadly we were with a tour bus for the day so we were timed. They did leave us x amount of time to roam as we liked. You can spend the whole morning or afternoon here if you like. The views are peaceful and make you travel in a different time. We love it and glad we could experience it. Grade: Eli = 5, Serge = 5 Recommend: Yes, you have to visit this place when you're in Amsterdam.
  • I loved it. As much as i want to have a longer time here, but i have limited time. So i prefer to the mills around the museum. Expect to see some history of cookies etc. The minor part is you have to pay for getting in.
  • Great museum of the Zaan's area history with old houses and mills and lots of wildlife swimming and flying around. The museum shows all the production history of this region and includes 3 lines of the famous Varcade factory: buiscuetts, chocolate and resins. You can play, taste (one piece) and buy the chocolates at the visitor's store.
  • Beautiful place in Zaanse schans. Amazing experience.
