  • The tour of the dozens of historical style-rooms with interiors from the 17th, 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries was very beautiful. I also found it interesting to hear the history of the in the 17th, 18th and 19th century converted Castle; originally a donjon Tower from 1250. There was a lot of information on particular paintings and the first inhabitants; the family van Wassenaer. Shooting within is only possible with permission but there is 2.50 for a photo-booklet for sale as souvenirs. The collection of 18th century Japanese and Chinese Imari porcelain and 18th century Dutch porcelain of Manifacture Lutterworth is impressive. But in a museum as a ceramics collection Rijksmuseum Amsterdam is more time to the painted details due to high rate of 1, 5 am tour. The Marot-Hall and the gold leather-Cabinet both from 1717 were the most spectacular interiors but there are also romantic 18th and 19th century bedrooms and a library and a boudoir. The tours are in the summer season and start to 1400uur and 15.30 except Sunday and Monday. The park is also very attractive and is open all year for 1 euro in the ticket-vending machine. I came there with an OV-fiets from Den Haag CS via Wassenaar but buses. The drive-avenue lined with old oak is long so count on a brisk walk from bus stop. There are organic summer vegetables for sale and the trail can go through to estate de Horsten to other side of the railway.

  • The park surrounding the Castle duivenvoorde is well organized and very nicely refurbished. Very clear and yet varied, with beautiful ponds. There is now also a spacious car park, where a day ticket can be purchased. Throughout the year you walk here to enjoy the peace and nature in every season.

  • Picturesque chateau in the countryside. Interesting collection of paintings and porcelain. The guide during our (rather regimented) tour wasn't particularly knowledgeable about the art works, fortunately I had checked their website before the visit.
  • So, I wouldn't really call it a castle in the way that a North American person might think of a castle. It's more of a huge country estate. Knowing that, it is a great day trip during the open house weekend recently. We had a great picnic lunch and enjoyed our tour.
  • Nice guided family tour. Super for kids.
  • A big house, but not a castle
  • Fun Castle, but not much interesting to see. The tour was good. Perhaps summers what better concerning the park grounds. The new restaurant was actually good. Also just opened.
