Peace Palace, The Hague

Categories: Government Buildings, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.4/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web
Often a host to policy talks, legal seminars, and other events, Peace Palace serves as the permanent home to the United Nations' International Court of Justice. The ornate building, topped by a tower, represents the culmination of international efforts at the turn of the 20th century to create an international forum to avoid war and conflict. Stop by the visitor center for information about the court and its daily workings or to learn more about the building and grounds themselves. Though not open to the public, you can access the institution by taking a guided tour and exploring the intricately decorated interior, replete with busts of famous figures, domed ceilings, and vaulted hallways. Be sure to check the website to see available tour times. Plan to see Peace Palace and other attractions that appeal to you using our The Hague family vacation planner.

  • Although I could not make a guided, as no book; experience very rewarding for the spectacular architecture. The headquarters the International Court is recommended

  • I like the Netherlands, visited in Amsterdam, but did not think that I will come to the Hague will see Peace Palace, where the UN Court is in session. The truth is we were not allowed into the territory, only stood near the gate, but wrote a wish Tree. Visited the Museum of the International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of arbitration.

  • Great place to visit and I learnt a lot of the history by paying the visit! Staffs are friendly there.
  • I highly recommend the tours. The garden and building are beautiful. Unfortunately, no photography is allowed inside, so check your expectations.
  • Beautiful, to see, but the visitor information materials make it seem like you can do more than walk to the gate and take a photo (yes, there's a visitor centre there, but it's not that interesting).
  • The garden is extraordinary. The library is brilliant.
  • The library is gorgeous! And the building too! Highly recommended
  • Awesome place, a must-visit in the Hague. The visitor center is free of charge too!
