Peace Palace, The Hague

4.3
Often a host to policy talks, legal seminars, and other events, Peace Palace serves as the permanent home to the United Nations' International Court of Justice. The ornate building, topped by a tower, represents the culmination of international efforts at the turn of the 20th century to create an international forum to avoid war and conflict. Stop by the visitor center for information about the court and its daily workings or to learn more about the building and grounds themselves. Though not open to the public, you can access the institution by taking a guided tour and exploring the intricately decorated interior, replete with busts of famous figures, domed ceilings, and vaulted hallways. Be sure to check the website to see available tour times. • Unfortunately there was not open to the Palace when we were there-but you could take a videotour. The selected we cannot, as we would rather favour. Beautifully, it looks and even though we did not succeed in getting into, then it seems impressive and worth a visit.

  • Nice stroll through the Center and walked along the Peace Palace to a look. What an impressive building, very nice to see both day and evening.

  • making... and thoughtful. Fascinating, already the visitors centre, the "beam", the story are trappings - Germany has "donated the beautiful fence" - and the atmosphere inside. Terrific!

  • Amazing building, inside and outside. You can go for a walk on the outside and enjoy the calm from the garden or go inside in a guided tour. Outside they have a monument with the flame of the world peace that it's worth the visit. There’s paid parking in the streets nearby and a tram stop in front of the entrance. PS: Please schedule your guided tour well in advance because normally they are completed.
  • Beautiful building. Loved the way world map is created with the word “welcome” written appropriately in different languages creating a map of countries. The map is behind the peace tree which also looks nice.
  • It is a superb place. The building inside resembles a castle or a church. The park nearby and the river provide a very romantic cold view. There are swans and rabbits. They also have a modern side which goes well with the rest of the design. Big impressive and clean.
  • The Peace Palace is wonderful. The guides are very kind and good. The visit is highly recommended.
  • Famous beautiful palace with elegant gardens at the Hague town. Also the monument with the flame of the world peace outside the building is pretty nice too with great meaning. Tours can be arranged for visiting the indoor space of the palace.
