Peace Palace, The Hague
(4.4/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web)
Often a host to policy talks, legal seminars, and other events, Peace Palace serves as the permanent home to the United Nations' International Court of Justice. The ornate building, topped by a tower, represents the culmination of international efforts at the turn of the 20th century to create an international forum to avoid war and conflict. Stop by the visitor center for information about the court and its daily workings or to learn more about the building and grounds themselves. Though not open to the public, you can access the institution by taking a guided tour and exploring the intricately decorated interior, replete with busts of famous figures, domed ceilings, and vaulted hallways. Be sure to check the website to see available tour times. Plan to see Peace Palace and other attractions that appeal to you using our The Hague family vacation planner.

  • I went to The Peace Palace with friends and took some photos of this huge and beautiful place. It was a pity that the day was rainy but it is a place one should visit even if the weather is nit good.
  • I suppose you couldn't go to The Hague without visiting this historical location. It's ironic that it was opened in 1913 though.
  • Enter left into a small courtyard with a moving wishes tree - you can ask at the reception desk a strip of paper with strand of wool, write and hang it also - and see inside the Peace Palace visitors center. A small expo and a short projection explain everything well without ceasing to be interesting. The vsiste with audioguide lasts about a half hour, really worth to go there, it is an institution unique in the world and so little-known! It is open from 11 to 16: 00 in winter and 10 to 17 h in summer.

  • 太平王院大明 Peace palace is beautiful Les Palais des Paix tres bellesime дворец мира очи красива Palacio de Paz muy bonito قسر البيلد جميا
  • Beautiful, to see, but the visitor information materials make it seem like you can do more than walk to the gate and take a photo (yes, there's a visitor centre there, but it's not that interesting).
  • I highly recommend the tours. The garden and building are beautiful. Unfortunately, no photography is allowed inside, so check your expectations.
  • Very nice looking building. Did not go inside, but worth the walk to see it.
  • The garden is extraordinary. The library is brilliant.
