Binnenhof, The Hague

(4.4/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
Visit the historic and current center of Dutch political life at Binnenhof. The 13th-century Gothic castle was originally the seat of the counts of Holland, and it later served as the main government building of the Dutch Republic. Today, the castle is home to the upper and lower houses of the parliament, as well as the prime minister's office. The central building of the castle represents the magnificent grand hall, with a throne from which the Dutch monarch delivers the parliament's opening speech. Go on a guided tour of the castle, learn about its history, admire the architecture, and use the opportunity to watch the parliament in session. Occasionally parts of the building may be inaccessible due to important political activities. Put Binnenhof into our The Hague vacation planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • Lovely place to visit even if it's raining ☔️ there are plenty of nice places ( cafes, shops etc) to warm up. The Mauritshuis Museum is a must see as well.
  • Gorgeous buildings and well maintained dutch architecture. The lake beside this is beautiful and anyone would like to sit beside it and rest.
  • Great Gothic buildings by a small lake. Oldest parliament in the world still in use. Best place for a tourist in The Hague to learn Dutch history. Highly recommended.
  • One pf the most beautiful places in the Netherlands. I grew up here, but I still like walking through here. You get the feeling you're back in the middle ages for a few minutes.
  • The hague. I've been there some years ago. Really a very beautiful place. Calm, peaceful and plenty of lovely old buildings. the Many stores for shopping are a must.
