  • Image of Ossip Zadkine, that the city without the (bombed) heart. People have this image in their heart closed.

  • A beautiful sculpture that anyone who visits Rotterdam, must see. But Rotterdam asking so very much perseverance of the visitor as the image at all behind the Maritime Museum should go look it up. And if you have a photo of it, you have also a non relevant vague apartment block at because it is still amazing full of concrete on those weird place. So Rotterdam, what do you want well?? The only right place is simply on that beautiful square that question begs, the only real A-location, for the central station! That the famous statue an outright by operation of the perhaps even more famous Laocoon group in the Vatican Museum in Rome, don't know anyone. The unfortunate Trojan priest Laocoon warned his city enjoyed against bringing in the Trojan horse, but was godgestuurd by a sea monster strangled, together with his sons. The despair of the Trojan priest in his last moments, with his arms raised to heaven, of pain left face begging but to no avail directed to higher powers, by Zadkine in this image projected on Rotterdam, which begged in vain for help when his heart burned. Zadkine made this picture not specially for this city-Dresden and Warsaw were also able to purchase, as examples of cities where the heart of is weggebombardeerd. But the Director of the Beehive accidentally saw the image in smaller form on an exhibition, saw the potential for the city of Rotterdam, made other parties warm to finance the idea and so it came. It seems to be of bronze and not of stone, but I could not really see, me it seemed more like a granite?, and I cannot understand why a bronze statue, which is of an elastic material is not a prop or support need, where necessary, lean against such a strange tree stump. The static material stone you know that, but can anyone give me now even tell why a bronze statue also a tree stump needs to not to fall??? The picture was so much stronger without that crutch. But even without that explanation I find: this image is, with stump, the symbol of why Rotterdam now as it is. So give it the place it deserves, the place in the current heart of the city, on that beautiful and so become of all the crap left empty square in front of the central train station. What would you there well go messing around with so-called modern art if you with this image the core of your history, while you yourself also secretly best know that those nuclear total in the wrong place. Just roll up your sleeves, Rotterdam, and equally lugging all together. Then the full circle.

  • Also known as: Zadkine Monument, after the sculptor.
  • An impressive monument that reminded of a sad history. But also so true.
