  • The Church is a good example of a beautifully restored monument. Inside, the beautiful wooden beams visible. If open it is recommended to have a look at.

  • The Church has 800 years (' Oude Kerk ' means ' old church ' as well by the way) is the oldest building of the city. It was founded around 1213 and consecrated in 1306, with St. Nicholas as Patron Saint. After the reformation in 1578, became a Calvinist Church, remaining to this day. Stay in De Wallen, the main red-light district, i.e. where the brothels, sex shops, etc. Rembrandt visited the Church often and their children were baptized there. This is the only building in Amsterdam that remains of the original form since the painter went through there. His wife is buried in the Church (Tomb 29), which also has 2500 tombs, under which 10,000 people are buried, among them the painter Vermeer. The roof of the Church is the largest wooden dome in Europe. The boards date from 1390 and have one of the best acoustics of the continent. The remaining traces of Catholic worship are choir chairs (1480-90) and the stained glass Windows in the Chapel to our Lady (1550). Access to the Church is very easy walk, starting from the Dam Square or the train station.

  • Very nice Church that is worth the visit. Located in a very quiet area, I would highlight its Tower and organ
