National Park Zuid-Kennemerland is a national park in the province of North Holland, the Netherlands, west of Haarlem, within the municipalities of Bloemendaal, Velsen and Zandvoort. It includes the southern portion of the region known as Kennemerland. The park was established in 1995.GeographySouth Kennemerland is characterized by sand dunes. The park, about 38km2 in size, also includes some estates, forests on the dune fringes, and coastal beaches. The dunes used to be a watershed for the city of Haarlem. Large amounts have been won for consumption. In 2003 these activities were ceased allowing the groundwater-bubble to grow again. There is a small public swimming area open in the summer at a location called the Wed on the road between Bloemendaal and Zandvoort. The train from Zandvoort to Amsterdam travels through the park.ManagementThe park is owned and managed collectively by Vereniging Natuurmonumenten (Natural Monuments Association), Staatsbosbeheer (State Forestry), PWN (Water Supply Company North Holland), Province of Noord-Holland , IVN, and the surrounding municipalities and private owners.

  • We went there by car, and rented bikes at the center of the visitor (Bezoekers centrum of Kennemer duinen). I think it is better to book in advance because this morning he remained only 4 half an hour after the opening. The ride is really nice, between forest, dunes, lakes and sea. Wild animals can arise at any time (today a DOE), and beautiful cows Scottish work in freedom. a loop of 20, 28 or 35 km, according to the form. I think it's also interesting walk, to be able to evolve on small paths, and see more wildlife. The beaches are beautiful, without peak if you move away from the parking lot of the restaurant. Very nice day in the Park.

  • A very beautiful and varied coastal habitat, great for walking or running. It is a pain to get in to from Ijmuiden however, as there is a long fenced boundary on it's Northern edge with a big gap between the most northerly beach entrance and the next one inland, despite having a public road running along side it for most of the way. People are obviously climbing the fence to get in at a couple of points where you can quickly access an existing vehicle track. I can't see why these access points are not improved and made official.
  • National Park South-Kennemerland, The 3,800 acre nature reserve between IJmuiden, Haarlem and Zandvoort is a popular place where cyclists and walkers can enjoy the varied landscape of woods, dunes and sea. It is the habitat for deer, foxes, rabbits and a large variety of birds. Recently wild horses, Scottish highland cattle, Shetland ponies graze the area, with bison at a few specific locations. The dunes have many beautiful viewpoints where you can also see bunkers from World War II. With a few good examples by the defence line at IJmuiden. #kennemerdunes
