(4.8/5 based on 80+ reviews on the web)
National Park Zuid-Kennemerland is a national park in the province of North Holland, the Netherlands, west of Haarlem, within the municipalities of Bloemendaal, Velsen and Zandvoort. It includes the southern portion of the region known as Kennemerland. The park was established in 1995.GeographySouth Kennemerland is characterized by sand dunes. The park, about 38km2 in size, also includes some estates, forests on the dune fringes, and coastal beaches. The dunes used to be a watershed for the city of Haarlem. Large amounts have been won for consumption. In 2003 these activities were ceased allowing the groundwater-bubble to grow again. There is a small public swimming area open in the summer at a location called the Wed on the road between Bloemendaal and Zandvoort. The train from Zandvoort to Amsterdam travels through the park.ManagementThe park is owned and managed collectively by Vereniging Natuurmonumenten (Natural Monuments Association), Staatsbosbeheer (State Forestry), PWN (Water Supply Company North Holland), Province of Noord-Holland , IVN, and the surrounding municipalities and private owners.

  • What a great beautiful dune area. Great for walking or cycling. Chances are that you'll suddenly face to face with Scottish Highlanders, a herd of wild fallow deer or konik horses.

  • Like Hoge Veluwe, but the landscape is different, you can actually meet wildlife animals, much closer to the big cities, so easier to get there. Has lots of poi's, and of course the nature is magnificent! Provides bike, horse and walking paths) Nature escape right next to your door)
  • Beautiful untouched place and quite large. Wildlife like rabbits, highland cattle and horses live here and the chances you will see some of them are fairly big. Biking or walking is easy because of the paths and clear indicated.
  • North sea, what else can be said? It's majestic. And the park is huge and perfect for bike riding and picnic.
  • A very beautiful and varied coastal habitat, great for walking or running. It is a pain to get in to from Ijmuiden however, as there is a long fenced boundary on it's Northern edge with a big gap between the most northerly beach entrance and the next one inland, despite having a public road running along side it for most of the way. People are obviously climbing the fence to get in at a couple of points where you can quickly access an existing vehicle track. I can't see why these access points are not improved and made official.
  • Awesome place to relax. Best dunes in the country and you can go on hour long adventures to find bisons!
