  • In the second half of the 19th century it was the Catholics in the Netherlands again allowed to build churches. Architect Pierre Caraballo built the most and second all in neo-Gothic style. Oudenbosch was that exception: p Hagen wanted per se a replica of St. Peter's in Rome. After a tegensput went to Caraballo agrees and he worked on this replica on 1/3 of the actual size. The finish inside took place in phases until the middle of the 20th century and is a lot more sober than that of the original. It was the time in which each master-painter a stucco marble column could provide a ' look '.

  • The Basilica in Oudenbosch is a prime location for decades to visit. The both inside and outside entirely restored Church is a replica of St. Peter's with the fa├žade of the St. John Lateran. The inside of the dome can be and downstairs is a small museum combined with a souvenir shop. Often there are guides that plenty of explanation about all possible details.

  • This Basilica is admirable. Incredible how they used to be such a beautiful Basilica with few tools could build. Likewise, the population of Oudenbosch quite a lot of time (years) and energy put into it. Fortunately by a variety of actions and huge financial aid from the Limburg political angle is the Basilica great restored. A must for this Basilica.
