  • A visit to Orvelte should not lack during a stay in Drenthe. A nicely set up kind of open air museum where you can take a look in Mucha. The well cultivated farms invite you in to look. A look at "'t Bakers case" with a cup of coffee and a cake with cherries and whipped cream is highly recommended. Also the various farms with pottery, antiques, old Dutch sweets are very worthwhile. Out of season is the parking free. It's basically wheelchair access, but itself with the wheelchair drive is hardly possible. There is a pusher barge.

  • From the adjacent holiday park a visit to Orvelte. According to the leaflets an authentic village ..... well. More of a doomed village whose farmers have chosen a number of eggs for their money and now semi things from mechanical engineer time. The shop then and now is for example much more now than then. Further fun to walk through it but it looks very much like Volendam without water. Very touristy, little authentic and really no village but a small portion of a small village. In short, you are in the neighborhood, always go along but temper the expectations

  • It was beutiful to visit not for adult but also good for children. It was great for the family. We like it very much.
  • This town was a great find. Was browsing looking for places to stop on way to Fort Bourtange and someone mentioned this place. Glad we went, even in off season it is clearly a locals secret. An old Dutch town as it was hundreds of years ago. Small cafés and interactive old buildings closed when we were there but look charming. Definitely worth the drive, the farm roads to the north are also a treat to drive.
  • Village stands out like an open air museum very nice to visit. Many places of interest.
