  • We arrived from Kranenburg, with our bicycles on a bicycle tour in Nijmegen. We parked our bikes at the Roman - Museum. (Market day was here at the time) And were, without knowing it, actually already right in the picturesque Nijmegen. The Gladiators can greet. So was the banner at our parking lot. We saw the beautiful entrance gate, which pointed to the Valkhof Park. It shone so beautifully in the Sun. And attracted us. The modern roundabout in Nijmegen, only a few meters and one in the history of a bygone time arrived. We found this quite good, which is woven on us unexpectedly. We didn't know it before that there is here a special, historic place. At the 13.02.2017, was probably only still up here to find snow on the Valkhof, were a special experience for us, we entered unprepared to Nijmegen, this State and the history that we were allowed to see. The mentioned in the Barbarossa ruins on the Valkhof is actually old Martin Chapel dating back to the 12th century. Up here in Nijmegen, on the Valkhof, the former Imperial Palace of the Charlemagne stood. (Something you need to know including eigent) I desert it is not. Read around the year 1030, Emperor Konrad of II built the St. Nikolaus-Chapel. The design of the Interior and exterior, is very angular. Inside the chapels - expansion, is octagonal. Outside the Chapel, was built sixteen square. The appearance of this Chapel, has parallels to the Palatine Chapel in Aachen, though, or just about the Charlemagne after Emperor Konrad II came, in memory of Aachen is probably this design. So to say further recommended by the emperor to Emperor. Our first walk in Nijmegen, has led us to the Valkhof. It was a sign of destiny. We will never forget we unexpectedly, see got so much history. At this point, I say thank you to our Emperor. They built so little future left. And that it is still there today, we're also thank you to the city Nijmegnen most definitely back in this beautiful city. (We love the custard buns.)

  • Mooi park, oude gebouwen en geweldig uitzicht over de Waal en de bruggen. Tijdens de zomerfeesten erg leuke podia!
  • Beautiful park along the river to walk, sit, and enjoy. Very historic area for military history as well.
