  • In a 2-3 hour time do you get your history knowledge of the Roman Gladiators, in a fun interactive way. Did you know bv that the Gladiators never older than 30 were, about 2 x per year had to fight. The period was 300 BC to ad 4oo. The biggest event was at the opening of the grotstec amphitheater in Rome by Emperor Titus where he 10duizend the Colliston Gladiators.

  • The current Gladiator exhibit is very interesting although the lack of info in English was difficult. There is much to see and learn even without words however, so we thoroughly enjoyed or visit.
  • The permanent exhibition of Museum het Valkhof is worth it, with a good story and beautiful objects around the Netherlands in Roman times, the Batavians, the history of the Valkhof, and an interesting room about the peace of Nijmegen in 1678. However, where this museum really shines is in the temporary exhibitions. When I recently was on a family weekend there were an exhibition on Pop Art, an exhibition of Roman helmets and face masks that were found along the Roman frontier in Netherlands, and-most impressive-a newly opened exhibition about Gladiators. For that last one was the museum managed to get a lot of great loans from, for example, Pompeii and Rome. The exhibition looked great, meanwhile told a particularly interesting story, and had something to offer for everyone in our company (of 3-year-old children to 60-year-old history buffs). Previous experience with exhibitions were also very good. So this museum is a must if you are in the neighborhood of Nijmegen are-and if there is a temporary exhibition is that appeals to you, then all at all!

  • The Valkhof is a small, but well designed and curated Museum, with exhibitions ranging from the Roman times to the modern period. Some special exhibitions are also on display, with some surprising local artists.
  • Nice museum with an extensive exhibition about the origin and history of the roman city of Nijmegen. Beautiful interesting space in itself. Cafeteria downstairs.
  • Archeology of the region as well as temporary exhibitions are interesting to have a look at.
  • Interesting museum, centrally located in the shopping area of Nijmegen. Therefore easy to visit while visiting Nijmegen. You can park your car next door in an underground garage. It offers a mix of local history and modern art. The museum is of modern architecture.
  • Lekker parkje. Dag van het Levenslied. Whoop!
