  • The Church takes its name from St. Peter/Petrus, against whom Jesus says I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of heaven. And also the city owes its weapon and the key name ' city '. With the 180-year construction of this church was started in 1390. I was already in at events, but now it appeared that the Church only through a somewhat winding route that ends in a desolate little restaurant and, for an additional fee to visit. We found this a somewhat dreary entrance saw further visit.

  • We were really overwhelmed by this church. There was such a special history attached to it, partly due to the Pilgrim Fathers who went to America from England via Lead and where Presidents from different tribes. So many other famous names can be found in the Church. We were speechless. Centuries look down on you.......

  • Magnificent organ! There's also a second one much smaller. The big church is completely empty which feels quite strange. It also enable you to see all the tomb stone on the floor.
  • Entrance fee 3€. Will never accept to pay entrance to a church. On the signs around the church leading to the entrance no fee is mentioned 🤑
  • Was closed as they were practicing, sounded great but couldn't see anything
  • Most of the time it is closed. Actually, I don't know when it's open. Nonetheless, it's a nice looking church if you are passing through.
  • A very beautiful church. A must see when in Leiden.

Where to stay in Leiden

A relatively small city with a big student population, Leiden caters to both long- and short-stay visitors making their plans on a limited budget. The historical city center remains the most expensive area, offering rooms in charming old buildings turned into elegant hotels. Just a short walk from this area you can choose from inexpensive lodgings in family-run inns, where cozy rooms come with private parking and free Wi-Fi. For added mobility without the extra cost, look for guesthouses that offer free bikes for use around the city.
