Beautiful collection of Dutch artist spanning several centuries and styles. Beautiful building and interior. Free audioguide with quips about Leiden/Dutch history. Section on Wool making is also very interesting. Definitely would recommend.
Some impressive Leiden masters, including Rembrandt and van Leyden on the ground floor, and historical armor and paintings of the seige of Leyden on the second floor, along with some beautiful period rooms from the 17th c. and the history of the Leiden wool trade. Also -- great air conditioning on a hot day!
M.i. SteegelingThe cloth Hall profiles itself within the range of museums in Leiden too little lead out: the museums in Leiden are every year on the cultural market of the Uitmarkt represented, but cloth Hall has never had the attention (and not on the internet by the way). By a message that they close from the end of February 2016 for 2 years, I decided to visit the museum yesterday anyway. The collection is not exactly a whole and also the format let to logic after the first two larger venues to be desired, but both for lovers of older and of more modern art there is plenty to see. Personally, I liked the art of 1880-1950 it interesting with the absolute highlight the Windows from the property of the Algemeen Handelsblad where years my family has worked, how the cloth Hall has tapped them on the head, is really an incredible story! The room on the 1st floor with the history of 700 years Leiden Cloth was pretty brief but interesting. There were also still a 2nd and 3rd floor, but those were unreachable for me because the elevator piece was. The free audio tour was pretty wordy and the headphones half did it but unfortunately ... The location near the train station is ideal, the toilets are of the same funny mix (State-of-the-art lighting and ceramic fish instead of crane) as the museum itself. Conclusion: more for lovers of the middle ages and the golden age, but a separate whole in a particular property that you definitely shouldn't miss.show original
