Historic Site Tourist Spot
Visit one of the most symbolic sites in the city at Molenmuseum de Valk, a functioning windmill dating from 1785 and a municipal museum. The museum itself displays items used in the milling process, such as tools and books. Visit the first floor to see the only remaining miller's residence in Holland, where many of the original furnishings remain. Stop to watch the video and learn about the history of grain grinding, then continue upward to the lofts to see more. In addition to learning about the history, you can also buy whole wheat flour ground on site. • You must go. Very cool to see the old ways and the historic building. The views are awesome. All writings are available in English.
  • Enjoyed the experience of this old windmill so much. Walking up to the top with the old staircases and learning about the history of this bygone era, is an absolute must for any visitor to the Netherlands.
  • If you are mechanically minded or just like a little history it's likely going to be an enjoyable experience. At 4 euro it's hard to turn down the opportunity.
  • Informative and educational windmill tour, steep ladder-stairs climb to the top, great views of the city
  • Loved this small museum. It's free on saturdays and totally worth visiting if you ever come to Leiden.
