  • My first time in the museum despite that Leeuwarden is my home town. Wonderful exhibition but immense pressure, even on Wednesday morning. Routing was not very clearly marked and therefore it was not easy to find. Resistance museum was nice but lacked real depth.

  • Nice, clear overview. Elevator available. The cloakroom also provides small safes so you can store your handbag in all safety, (the museum only allows very small handbags). Pleasant museum.
  • First of all this: the Frisian Museum deserves a bit more interesting square than that to which it is. So meaningless empty and boring, this square is so sparkling and surprisingly this museum. If building not immediately moeders mooiste (but anyway, who am I?), but the spatial clarity that the building from outside as well as inside, the calm and concentration that I, as a museum visitor always very welcome, for good; Despite the crowds out there currently prevails around the Alma Tadema-exhibition. The very ' graceful ' spaces offset somewhat the crowds. It's just such a shame, actually contradictory, that the beautiful glass exterior wall just views on this totally useless square and not the view extends beyond the barely above the flat roofs excellent spires. The smart of this building is that box office, museum shop and the exhibition spaces/lockers are each on a different floor. Any hustle and bustle is therefore in advance all that spread. Really ingenious, I find the magnification of the important painting by Alma Tadema of the in depth-looking young woman, that is projected above the stairs. That woman are now looking at the people who go up the stairs and soon her to admire on the real painting which is surprisingly smaller than I had imagined! I have ' only ' only the Alma Tadema-exhibition visited (even twice; the first time was just too much of a good thing. ...) and also in the various rooms there is very careful with the (artificial) light. Nowhere annoying reflections on the exhibit. Finally, the exhibition itself: insanely handsome painted by Lourens Alma Tadema, but it is thereby at the same time, the achilles ' heel of this oeuvre: the performances. After two hours I could not languorous, nasty, ducklings, luierende, bathing, pensive beautiful women see more! Note the faces: they are one-dimensional beautiful masks. Give me the mugs of Rembrandt. Also ' from life '. Also ' just really ' ... ...
