Theme Park Water / Amusement Park
Once a quaint nature park, Efteling has grown to become a large, fantasy theme park. When it opened in 1952 with a playground and fairytale forest, no one could have predicted that it would evolve to be twice the size of the original Disneyland. While the park remains true to its origins by incorporating elements of fairy tales and folklore into its attractions and entertainment, it now has a total of 36 rides, including four water slides. Take your family on a trip through mythical worlds, enjoy the park's renowned greenery and gardens, and share in the excitement of roller coasters and thrill rides. Take a look at our Kaatsheuvel family vacation planner to schedule your visit to Efteling and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • How can I not give this 5/5? The Efteling is a one-of-its-kind amusement park with a unique style. The atmosphere is fantastic and the attractions are wonderful. The park is big enough to go to for a couple of days, and the drinks/food is of high enough quality. A tip: to avoid waiting lines, download the Efteling app. There you can plan your best route. Very recommendable. 5/5
  • Lovely big theme park with wonderful fairytale area as well as the usual rides. Go midweek out of Dutch school holidays and avoid the crowds. Good choice of well priced eateries on site. Great show too, in Dutch with headsets available for other languages.
  • Hidden gem. This place really deserves to be visited. Everything is very well made and has something for all ages and tastes. This is just like Disney but without the name behind it. If you are in the Netherlands you should definitely go there. Prices are OK for what it offer. Restaurants inside have really affordable prices and good quality. Oh and the park is open 365 days a year. If you want to visit you should plan at least 2 days.
  • The real Dutch landmark. It's expensive, you have to pay €10 for parking and it's really crowded, but... once you get there you will really enjoy, no meter how old you are, how terrible is your wife, you will love. I rate it 4 stars as I find it rally annoying to pay extra for parking, and so much! Also opening hours from 10 to 18 is not enough. As I pay for entrance I would prefer to stay from dawn to dusk. And one more thing, to make my comment complete. Smoking should be allowed only in a few isolated spots.
  • This park is a must visit, especially if you have children! It's my all time favourite theme park in the world. No park has this warm authentic fantastic atmosphere. I've come here at least once a year since I was a child and with every visit it's more enchanting. I recommend an extended visit (a couple of days) with a stay at the Efteling hotel. It's not cheap but it's a trip you won't forget: cosy rooms, great food, the whole Efteling experience! Oh, and save some extra cash to buy the Efteling CD or Dream Flight perfume. You HAVE to take a souvenir home to be able to survive until your next visit.
