Efteling, Kaatsheuvel

Once a quaint nature park, Efteling has grown to become a large, fantasy theme park. When it opened in 1952 with a playground and fairytale forest, no one could have predicted that it would evolve to be twice the size of the original Disneyland. While the park remains true to its origins by incorporating elements of fairy tales and folklore into its attractions and entertainment, it now has a total of 36 rides, including four water slides. Take your family on a trip through mythical worlds, enjoy the park's renowned greenery and gardens, and share in the excitement of roller coasters and thrill rides. • Great Park, which you can visit in a day. The decorations are really beautiful, the atmosphere is magical. Pity that attractions are so short, and those thrill so few. Attention to tourists who don't speak that french, nothing is translated.

  • Even though the lines are very long, this park is an exciting amusement for a whole day (opened at 10 o'clock) There are attractions for both grown ups and for little kids Recommended by all means  more »

  • Nice theme park for young and old. I go here since i was little and it stays fun. It has a very nice aesthetic and music everywhere. Nice restaurant and food stands everywhere. In the winter it has nice campfires and people singing life. Its my favourite park and it has the best themed attractions i know. I really recommend going here.
  • Efteling is like the Disney of Holland. It's an amazing visit. But, it can be a bit dark. Think of the brothers Grimm applied to the displays. Like seeing a display of the evil witch turned into a monster in Cinderella. It's enough to make you gasp. Or Hansel of "Hansel and Gretel" caged and the witch free. The displays are top notch. Just be prepared to accept that the snapshot of the display may not be at the time you had imagined based on your history of the tale. The rides are safe and well maintained. The wait is usually worth the effort. It's 100% worth stopping by to see.
  • Special parking for larger families and groups (depending on size of car and how many people are inside) very close to the entrance. Staff is very helpful and everybody speaks Dutch and English. Many also speak German and French. The park is old (65 years) and some areas look like it (Fairytale Forrest), but those areas are for toddlers who actually don't care too much about the looks. Newer areas are well maintained and look good. Sadly, all story-based attractions with narrations are Dutch only. Entrance fees and parking are much cheaper than Phantasialand just a few hours drive away on the German side, so this is the better place if you have many kids to pay for. Besides narrations the stories are also conveyed visually, so it is okay for kids.
  • Love love love this place. Our first visit -stumbled upon it when researching a trip to Disney. People raved about it and now I am too. A really thoughtful family friendly quaint yet cool theme park. Lovely heritage, really inclusive atmosphere and so much love and care has gone into the place.I really hope to return.
  • A big beautiful theme park. Anyone can enjoy here - kids, thrill-seekers, beauty lovers.. the park is very considerate of people with special needs - handicaps and elders, who don't need to stand in line, have a special entrance in many of the attractions and also can bring with them a chaperone (even more than one in some of the rides). Families with babies can use the baby-switch option, which is nice. The app is a must - it includes a map (which works offline) and live queue times. There's free WiFi.
