Castle Heeswijk Reviews
Een leuk uitje met het gezin. Je kunt het kasteel bezoeken met behulp van een tablet waarmee je informatie krijgt van de verschillende aangegeven stukken en ruimtes in het kasteel. Bij meerdere mensen... more »A fun family getaway. You can visit the castle using a tablet that lets you get information of the different pieces and areas indicated in the Castle. When several people in the space, it is unfortunate that you actually better ears at can have. Else you hear it almost not you and disturb other visitors. A guide books with a small group is pretty pricey so not done but you actually get more information. The treasure hunt for the kids is fun. On the day we were there, there was even a Knight school to which they could participate. Too bad the weather threw a spanner in the works. The hospitality industry is fine but pricey. Too bad there is only 1 way access. If we had known that there is also a fluisterboot trip went at the height of the castle we had that might be done. The castle is beautiful and well maintained. Worth to be seen.
Het kasteel is zo rond 1200 begonnen te bestaan. De historie is een van oorlog en geweld. The history is one of war and violence. About 40 years ago when I came to live in Jerusalem told the villagers that there is also violently during the second world war was fought. The Allied soldiers of fallen comrades made a rampart behind which they are protected from enemy fire. You can feel it-if you are sensitive to are-still if you walk around there. But what the castle in my opinion so valuable is that you in the castle the sadness of the last noble residents feel is due to the reconstruction of the original decoration of the rooms, but is more than excellent articulated by the guides. These volunteers give me chills every time as they tell the story of the last baron and Baroness. The rummaging and grabber of the children who sold the household goods. The effort to get back to buy stuff back to restore the castle to its former glory. The castle is in my opinion not only history, but also an ode to all the volunteers who have made possible the renovation and that every time tell the story of the castle with fire. That disinterested commitment gives the citizen weather courage in these complicated times. I can only 1 downside. Everything goes in the Dutch. That's no fun for the foreign guests. You have nowadays of those nifty devices that could tell the story of the guides in other languages. Perhaps a future investment?

The route to certain departures seemed not well signposted. Apparently the Director not in favour of signs but there are indeed friendly ladies who show you the way. Would possibly via the audio guide can be designated the route. It is also fun to be with children to visit this castle. A visit to the castle is also combined with a walk or bike ride in the area.
Very nice furnished castle. Let's visitors wander freely and relatively unrestricted. Tablets provide lots of additional information to those that want to know more.
