  • Far from the madding crowds, this museum focusses on Frisian artists in the 20th and 21st centuries. Highlights are the paintings by Jan Mankes (1889-1920).  more »
  • Our last visit was during the exhibition of works by Emily Davies. (Winner Gerrit Benner Price 2016) The exhibition was nicely set up. The museum focuses on the valuable talents from the region. It is a beautiful building that seems to be made of tally marks. (Reminds of the peat around Heerenveen.) After visiting the museum is a walk through the woods of oranjewoud highly recommended.

  • The location of the museum gives you a feeling of respect. The building is in its simplicity a good place for exhibitions. Not too big, nor too small.

  • beautiful (in park) situated museum with small jan mankes collection and Exchange tents show objectives with contemporary art (and of varying quality)

  • It is a small museum, particularly beautiful building. The collection I find moderately, but that is a matter of taste. The temporary collection was for sale, what the m.i. a gallery, not a museum. Tip! The hospitality industry is fantastic, they make really works of art and you're sitting there delicious. Flop: the museum park. It is a park and there is a museum. That is really different than a museum park.

  • Very beautiful exhibition Kathe Kollwitz. Pleasant atmosphere, beautiful location and impressive building.

  • Such a building deserves better exhibitions, northern lights went still, but the Department where the "art" for sale is not to see. Price quality is to look far.

  • Beautiful building only the gang up to it has something of a motiarium. Why not what outdoor art. The exhibits I found very moderately. The exposition of "what can go wrong when assembling an Ikea table" was really a topper. (That name I have one myself but to given) for a in red painted piece of cardboard you get with me the hands really not on each other.
