Roam the formal gardens of Kasteel de Haar, and then head inside to admire the richly decorated and wood interior. Located just outside Utrecht, this medieval fortress is complete with ramparts, gates, drawbridges, and large gardens. It was fully restored and rebuilt in 1892 after a large donation from the Rothschild family, but previous structures on the land date back to 1391. The inhabitants, the Van Zuylen van Nyevelt family, passed ownership over to the foundation, but still reserve the right to spend one month at the castle per year. View the many pieces on display around the castle, all of which come from the Rothschild collection. Guided tours are available to see the kitchens, greeting rooms, and dining rooms, but are usually only conducted in Dutch. It is a little bit expensive for what it offers, not really for children. The scenery and landscape is very nice though, lots of gardens and flowers to look at but at least my children were a little b... more »

Although you actually quickly was in, we were also still in the garden on the hike and eating we were there a total of approximately in 4u ready. It is helpful and there are a few zitplaatsjes in each room happy. Garden is like a Park. It is nice, but come on ... Restaurant did not have much choice and was quite pricey for what there was + lasted long before we eat were given and there were quite a lot of insects anywhere.. In short: you are soon ready in the Castle, but as the rest also walking please..

The parking is paid, they give you a currency to buy the entrance which is the one to put out for the lifting of the barrier. It is pretty big inside, rooms are furnished, although sometimes in the decoration it has too modern elements.

Best castle ever. It is really like in fairytale. for what you see price is not that much. Inside the castle people are really nice, explaining if you ask something. it is really good. You can spend the whole day here.

This is yet another beautiful castle in the Netherlands which one should visit. It is located in village Vleuten next to city Utrecht. It is huge and beautiful and the view of the garden is spectacular. The interior of the castle is much more amazing. Every year there will be different events held up. This is one great sightseeing which one should come every year.

We could get in with the Musium pass but if not it will disappointed. Looks beautiful outside and they only open some part of inside . The park is not very well taking care of.

The castle and the garden are beautiful, worth visiting. The inside of the castle was refurbished in the early 1900s so don't expect a medieval look. Instead you can see a very nice mixture of the medieval architecture with modern facilities and multi-cultural elements for decoration. The entrance fee is a bit pricy but it's still worth a visit.

Great location to enjoy a fully restored castle. Bring along your picknick set and have a great lunch enjoying the castle view.
