Housed in the painter's town of Haarlem, Frans Hals Museum represents the largest repository of the famed Dutch artist's works in the world. Spending most of his life in Holland, Hals specialized in leaving his paintings with a "rough" finish. Visit the museum and peruse its collection of more than 750 paintings and works spread out over numerous galleries and exhibitions. Inspect Hals' "loose brushwork" up-close to fully appreciate the sense of life and movement it brought to his art, perhaps his most notable trademark. You can listen to an audio tour, included in your admission, or download the museum's smartphone app for more in-depth information along the way. Don't miss seeing the facility's collection of religious artwork and Haarlem-related artifacts also on display. I was amazed by the paintings of years gone by. They are so well preserved and felt like such a privelage to be able to see this. Very neat and we'll organized. Love the audio with many paintings...

Beautiful museum that I visited during ‘Museum in Bloom’ exhibition. You can admire here various paintings from the Dutch Golden Age era as well as furniture, ceramics, glass and silver. The art and interior was looking amazing with live flowers arranged through the whole museum. Children really enjoyed watching the Doll House. The patio is very beautiful with many benches and tables. Also the cafe is a great addition (the terrace is a reall hidden gem, especially when it’s sunny). I’d not recommend visiting it with little children (up to 3-4 year old) as I was asked to hold my little one by hand at all times. It was fine, but not really easy or handy.

Really enjoyed this experience. Laid back great lighting and the explanations are perfect. I liked that the listening device was included in the entrance. Oh and the mirrored floor room is brilliant!
-
Such a lovely museum! Extremely well designed and organized. I only wish there were more Frans Hals paintings, I expected to see a bigger variety of his works over time.
-
What a lovely walk through the museum. I wish we had gone earlier since they close at 5 and we took our time reading each stoy of each piece. Very nice atmosphere
-
Definitely worth a visit! If you are looking for an alternative for classical Amsterdam museums and want to dive into local's lives, visit this museum! You will not regret!
