Frans Hals Museum, Haarlem

#1 of 12 in Museums in Haarlem
Housed in the painter's town of Haarlem, Frans Hals Museum represents the largest repository of the famed Dutch artist's works in the world. Spending most of his life in Holland, Hals specialized in leaving his paintings with a "rough" finish. Visit the museum and peruse its collection of more than 750 paintings and works spread out over numerous galleries and exhibitions. Inspect Hals' "loose brushwork" up-close to fully appreciate the sense of life and movement it brought to his art, perhaps his most notable trademark. You can listen to an audio tour, included in your admission, or download the museum's smartphone app for more in-depth information along the way. Don't miss seeing the facility's collection of religious artwork and Haarlem-related artifacts also on display. • Interesting building, artwork and other antiquities. Lovely, peaceful central courtyard. Mostly wheelchair accessible. There are only two rooms which cannot be accessed. There are accessible amenities. Friendly staff, well worth a visit.
  • Really great for art lovers and those who are into history! The building is really well maintained and so is the art! A very informative afternoon
  • This is a good museum. There are a lot of paintings and pictures inside. The ticket is also valid for their another museum. There is also a beautiful garden in the center of building. There is a locker and toilet. Museum card holder is free to enter. The staff are also nice.
  • Excellent art museum about an artist which is not internationally recognized. Enough English signs and video to understand who this man was. Don't go tired and take at least two hours to visit this and the modern art exhibition included in the same ticket.
  • A well maintained museum where they took the energy to make each room a unique experience. Fresh flowers are beautifully displayed in the rooms and the building has some interesting stained glass windows and designs. The garden is nice and quiet and a lovely place to recover some energy and of course the museum's paintings are of world class quality and worth a visit.
