  • The second huge cathedral in Haarlem, which you can't missing! Also super beautiful, but this time you can't find here restaurants close by, where you can sit down.. But.. here is kind of park :)  more »
  • At a time when we find out that we also have many beautiful churches in Netherlands, a visit to the St. Bavo in Haarlem. Costs virtually nothing and it is well worth the effort. Certainly if the organ is rehearsed. Sounds in the Church considerably better than on CD. Please note details of which come in a large extent.

  • Located on the Spaarne is the Cathedral Basilica Church named after the patron saint of Haarlem. Building master and architect Jos Cuypers. He was inspired by nature. That you see in the Interior. Everywhere you see motifs from nature such as leaves. On the outside you will discover different influences, including Moorish ookj. A total of 140 different artists worked. Including Han Mugwort. A fascinating exhibition about him appeared in the Cathedral museum. A staircase at the back of the Church leads to this fascinating museum.

  • Great architecture. Couldn't enter as it's currently under renovation
  • Nice, huge, modern cathedral on a river. Do not confuse it with the gothic cathedral in the centre, De Grote.
  • Lovely building. Currently being repaired and wasn't allowed in. Great history to the building.
  • Beautiful catholic cathedral built between 1895 and 1930 in neo-gothic and neo-roman style, according to a design by architect Jos Cuypers. Try to visit the church, and even better, try to get into one of the sparse tours of the church and its towers and cupola, that are organised by the church itself (keep an eye on the website).
  • Magnificent building, historical feeling

Where to stay in Haarlem

Many visitors to Haarlem choose to stay in the historical town center, which offers easy access to the city's outstanding museums. Centrally located four- and five-star rooms and suites offer all the amenities you need, but they also come at a steep price. For slightly less expensive lodgings, check out the good-value guesthouses and self-catering apartments just minutes from the city's main train station. You can also visit Haarlem from nearby Amsterdam, which offers a greater variety of affordable hotel and hostel rooms.
