Groninger Museum, Groningen

Art Museum Museum
Housed in three pavilions, each designed by a different architect, Groninger Museum displays modern and contemporary art. The museum opened in 1874, but the current construction wasn't completed until 1994. Take in the distinct pavilions, a silver cylindrical building, a yellow tower, and a blue deconstructivist space. These structures merge seamlessly into one museum located on the canal. Explore the museum to see local, national, and international works of art. If you'd like a more in-depth understanding of the exhibits, choose from one of the several tours offered. Put Groninger Museum and other Groningen attractions into our Groningen trip builder, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • The Museum has delighted us and our friends who are cultural and travel experience, really. The unique location of the Museum in a central location, mirrored by the water impressed spontaneously and inspires dreams. The exhibition at a high level on the ground informed with special exhibits about the mansions of the bourgeoisie and the aristocracy. The contemporary art on the first floor was a "highlight", which inspired the Viewer. Then, we have visited some manors or castles with magnificent gardens in the Groningen. A better connection between the Museum and building and Park history is unique

  • Nice place to see some art if you are a Groninger student, because then it's free, wouldn't recommended it really if you cannot get free entrance. One gallery was closed at the moment and a big part of the museum is a gallery of historical art of the Netherlands and Groningen, but also modern art can be found often in other galleries.
  • Very good museum. When anybody in Groningen, she/he must visit this place. worthy to visit .
  • Great museum. Th building itself is a piece of art too. God own collection and great temporary exhibitions.
  • It is not big as Rijkmuseum but I found interesting collection of contemporary art and design.
  • Beautiful museum! Both the buildings and the expositions. Often daring and extraordinary compositions of the collection.
