  • We decided to visit the Canadian cemetery in Groesbeek (on a trip to Holland) to visit my husband's mother's first husband who is buried there. We were lucky: it was a beautiful warmish sunny day when...  more »
  • Well worth a visit. We were there a grey January day. Not one of the greatest but if you are on the Liberation Museum in Groesbeek is next door. Well maintained and a good place for meditation on war's futility. A plus for the registry books of all who are buried. Found in the alcove at the entrance of a small cabinet.

  • A piece of history lesson of our parents try to give to our son. He was particularly impressed by the young age of the soldiers.

  • It is a lasting piece of the recent history. It is well kept and on a beautiful spot on higher ground. I am born a few decades after the war. But seeing all these graves makes you remember that millions paid the ultimate price for today 's peace.
  • As a visiting Canadian Hockey Team playing games in the Netherlands, Germany and Czech Republic over 2 weeks, we made a point of stopping at Groesbeek. The young men on the team were 16-18 years old, and were taken aback by the number of 19, 18, and even 17 year old Canadians they found buried in this very peaceful spot. Each player left a Canada flag with the Soldier of their choosing, and a poppy wreath was left by the team as well. Our young men learned a lot from their time in the Netherlands, and why the Dutch people love Canadians so much......
  • Remember in peace Beautiful and peaceful place, where You can walk and read stones of thousands of soldiers that gave them life's for better world.
  • Not been yet but just added photo for the location of the grave for Hugh Christie should we be able to pay our respects. XVII G 13
