  • Actually I can only repeat what has been said here several times. The visit is very worthwhile! The price is more than justified for what you get and you notice immediately that the presentation is been designed with love to detail. The whole thing is just incredibly interesting and above all lovingly designed. We have stopped us to a total of approximately 2.5 hours there. Another small tip for German: park vending machines do not work with German banks cards, however, this is well known to the local traffic wardens, that's why you can park so long free throughout downtown (to the Planetarium around) with German number plate as one would like. This a beautiful city can be then visit. More little info: dogs are allowed in the Museum. We welcomed our little Dachshund just purely take. However not all the stairs in the House dog suitable for do have very, very short kicks. ... We have spent a wonderful and unforgettable day in Franeker, and thank the Museum for this! Simply great in every way!

  • See also because it is the only attraction of the small town of Franeker. Think then that is still fully functional and that was built in 1780.

  • The oldest working planetarium Eise Eisinga, who as an amateur astrologer in his own living room. He did his 250 years ago. This works today still accurate. Just impressive and must see for young and old.

  • Brilliantly arranged and informative exhibition about this amazing self taught astronomer, but to go be t door and stand in his front room and see his crazy invention still in perfect working order, his little bedchamber and cooking stove, and upstairs the entirely low-tech mechanism that he crafted by hand...an inspiration to all creative "chaps in sheds"!
  • Must visit if you are in the area. You will be impressed.
  • Amazing. He must have been a brilliant mathmatician and craftsman.
  • Terrific! One of the most interesting place I have ever seen in my whole life! Super recommended!!!
  • This is a great little stop, located in a small Frisian city, to learn about a scientifically- and mathematically-minded wool carder who, in his spare time, built an amazingly complex mechanism showing the current position of planets and the moon in the ceiling of his living room. After touring the house of this local star, visit the planetariumcafé to have some delicious ("lekker") apple pie ("appelgebak").
