  • A must for any Dordt-visitor. More beautiful than this Church does not exist in the region and the impression speaks for itself. If you're not too infirm are a climb of the tower is a must. The view, even beyond Rotterdam, is well worth the effort.

  • The great Church of Dordrecht you can not around it. So called from the water and from the city he is always perceptible. Also inside this Church well worth watching. During the Christmas market is often sung in this church and there is a nice atmosphere around it created with christmas carol singers.

  • Great Church of Dordrecht from the 11th century the medieval great Church of Dordrecht is a building with a rich history, of which the origin lies in the 11th century. Not only the Grand architecture of the exterior of the Church, but also the monuments present in the building, chapels and the choir stalls, make the building to the most important monument of Dordrecht. The Tower of the great Church had there actually different should look. However, in the 16th-century the Colossus tilted already. For centuries there built to the large church tower. In the present time is unthinkable, but such a lengthy construction process was 600 years ago that because of the limited resources and techniques not unusual. With the construction was started in the beginning of the 14th century. More than one hundred years later, around 1450, the work was advanced to the circulation. But then the unthinkable happened. At the big city fire in 1457 Church and tower were severely battered. The rebuilding gave the chance to the plans to review. The tower would be a crowning achievement of natural stone and octagonal no less than 108 metres high. The Tower began to SAG and already at that time tremendously. An almost 50 metres high Spire would be disastrous, there was therefore abandoned. There were plans to the tower to break down and the Church. The west entrance of the detached Tower reminds to that. Finally in 1626 the four colossal hand signs that until today the silhouette of the canons ' stupid '. The final height of the tower was 65 metres thereby. In the restoration from 1953 to 1973 is the subsequent sagging of the tower and are the original tracking again. Also got the surrounding buildings a stylish shape and destination. The tower now stands 2.25 metres out of the lead and is committed with its weight of 12 million kilos of delete against the Northwest: a symbol of Holland's oldest city and its relationship to wind and water. The trouble of climbing 275 steps will be rewarded with a great view. Nearby is the old town with the ports node to the busiest rivers of Europe. Further away is the city itself in South and East almost to the Biesbosch. Visible include the central in Geertruidenberg, the petrochemical industry in Moerdijk and even the Tower of Breda. To the East and to the North are places like Gorinchem and Gouda to distinguish and sometimes even the Utrecht DOM Tower. In the West include the Brienenoord bridge and the Euromast. 3 organs: Kam-Kabinetorgel, Bach-and after various interventions built W.H. Comb from Rotterdam in 1859 eventually an entirely new organ in the old greenhouses. The organ builder White in 1867 brought changes to the disposition. So the thirds were removed from the Mixture and the focus on the Manual was replaced by a gemshorn 2 '. In 1939 g. van Leeuwen and Sons an overall re-intonation a new Viola di Gamba 8 ' and on the pedal a new Violon 16 ' were placed. In addition, a Barker lever on the Manual. On september 26, 2007 it became by Verschueren organ building (Heythuysen) manufactured Bach-organ in the Grote Kerk in Dordrecht inaugurated. This instrument is an important enrichment of the Dutch organ property in General, and of the Grote Kerk in Dordrecht in particular. Never before was in a Netherlands style copy of the work of the famous organ maker Gottfried Silbermann built. In addition, the instrument from a stylistic point of view an important addition to the magnum opus of the organ makers comb in the imposing ' Canons stupid '. The goals of the Foundation Bach-organ Grote Kerk Dordrecht was doing building a type not present in Netherlands still Baroque organ showing, in particular, the music of Johann Sebastian Bach to optimum sound. From those considerations is chosen the name ' Bach-organ ', even though that's a for multiple interpretations and somewhat ' Laden ' understanding. Built in 1785 the canons organ maker G. this instrument. The original location is unknown. In 1916 the organ was purchased from the piano dealer Ernst Krill in Utrecht. Until recently, this instrument was in Mr. Simon van Gijn Museum in Dordrecht. For several years, the State drafted in the presbytery of the great Church. It is a pity that the large Church knows too little inspection or opening moments. If you this summary/summery for a quick review on price please click the ' set useful voice '.
