  • Well worth the drive up and to see the amazing bridge/dam and stop half way to take in the views and read about the history of it  more »
  • Afsluitdijk, is dam big and impressive, no doubt, of the Netherlands. It is a dam closure that connects the North of North Holland, with the province of Friesland. It is one of the most popular and important in this country, hydraulic works and that he has a few. By Afsluitdijk runs a two-lane highway in each direction and bike path. Is a road very busy to daily. Is can go from a tip to another of the dike, in car or in bicycle. With this impressive dam is closing, the Wadden Sea, on one side and the other, the Ijssel Lake. Circular with the car by the Afsluitdijk, is an unforgettable, unique experience... is printing, up to da thing, you go through the sea... As to half of road there is a tower of observation, from which to contemplate all and the truth is that seems incredible, that is has could perform a work of engineering hydraulic of similar magnitude. !! Safety pin!

  • May be Yes, that the Afsluitdijk in the framework of the Dutch land reclamation played an important role and should be recognised as amazing building feat. But it is not really exciting actually, to stand on this dike and see sea front as well as behind it. And when you then must stop at the lock, because the lifting bridge is open, and the sighting of a rather Booger-shuttle transit already makes the absolute high point of crossing of the 32-km-long dike, then this should demonstrate that the level of happiness and experience this trip rather than low value to classify.

  • Impressive dutch piece of enginering. The view is spectacular no matter the kind of weather. The lunchroom takes tou back to 1940 with old maps and photo's on the wall
  • Can only recommend driving this route if you get the chance! It's so beautiful.
  • Highly impressive what human spirit and workforce can do! Visit the café at the tower and have a look at the video and on the pictures!
  • It's amazing to see how the Dutch tried to play God - and succeeded.
  • Fantastic view point and cafe is great
