It is a modern interactive museum which has a beautiful view of the horticultural history of the region. In the museum itself contains many authentic objects and imagery is told the story of the region. You can also get audio information on several points. Highlight has to be the auction building with the lighallen. There is a "real" auction held where you can bid and buy. Very nice, both for children and adults. The enthusiasm of the staff/volunteers falls on and certainly contributes to the experience of this museum. Finally, we did a round trip of 45 minutes by the marsh areas. A beautiful ending.

Restaurant with normal prices. A boat trip with a covered boat and a skipper who told a lot. After a cruise of 45 minutes you go to the auction. Everyone can offer on the fruits and vegetables.

A bit surprised of the requested entry price (€17), we were pretty worried, but we have been reassured by the quality of the presentations. The Museum is dedicated to the very special agricultural traditions of this region or more than 15,000 small farms cultivated 100 years ago a multitude of plots of land reclaimed from water, very fertile but only accessible by boat. To sell their produce, farmers have set up a negative bidding system. It starts with a nice tour of typical fields of the time by boat (included in the visit, comments in Dutch, but summarized on form in french, German and English). Then there is a demonstration of bidding in the original room, presented in a very fun way. Vegetables are entered by boat and visitors can participate in the auction. First, to begin with, a simulation. Fortunately, because I would have been hard to ship to Schiphol the 65 kg of onions that I acquired by pressing a little too fast on my order! It was so funny the present Dutch! After that, real auction to buy real vegetables for a few euros. The rest of the visit is well commented on french audioguide (included), and an exhibition shows the life of farmers at the time. The tour is interesting also with children, with many visible domestic animals.
