  • We were at the fall market in Bourtange. Entry (during special events) cost €2, children (12 years old) were allowed in free. The market was yes a hilight but the castle itself is also very interesting. Regularly different events for children are offered (make candles themselves, etc.) and Helloween-night should be very interesting. Beautiful excursion destination for the whole family.

  • Renovated old-style fortress with a populated and maintained village in the middle. There are restaurants and shops, Evangelical Church, windmill, synagogue and museum rooms. Occasionally, re-enactments, and other special events take place. Worth a visit as well as no car traffic for interested in history, but also for families with children and outside the high season also for those seeking tranquility, there.

  • Today the fortifications with a Sun visited. Beautiful mill, churches, small museum, drawbridge and lookout towers on the bastions. Many gelijkenus with it my home village the Spanish fortress town of Stevensweert in Limburg. Nice hiking and informative stories about Spanish past. Inside the ramparts nice restaurants and authentic shops. Are you walking leg, use the eletrocar for little money. Have fun.

  • It's a nice historic place, great for tourists to visit!
  • Vesting Bourtange breaths history from all pores in this beautiful place. They way everything is restored and the buildings you are allowed to see inside makes this an awesome journey into the history.
