  • This is real a super nice fortified town with nice old houses and if you are lucky you will also have a cannon once a month shot, and the population in old costumes.

  • We drove a long way for order and we found it really bother. We parked our car on the parking at the Tourist Office (free) and received as information, on our demand for walks, to either the Red poles do walk of 4 km or the green of 6 km. we opted for the latter. This walk is worthwhile for those nature lovers. You walk en. in a big bow to the fortified town of back and you follow actually ' Smokkelpad '. We came in trouble once we the open road ' Bisschopsweg ' about stakes and for the second time in a meadow with horses. There we found no path and no green poles more. Luckily the app on my phone and we walked through a definite offer cycle path back to the fortress. Despite this there was we found the walk through the nature reserve ' the landscape of Groningen ' more than the difficulty, even by the drizzle. Also the fortress town itself is also a unique experience! Highly recommended!
