  • Nice convenience store adjacent to the Trappist Abbey, very honest Dutch trend. We ate two whole wheat bread, a delicious cheese sandwitch bio made Abbey and one with ham's best Brabants asparagus ham 2016 ', Laureijs butchery, all topped off with salad, a little jar of mustard and other raw vegetables. Together, a Trappe Isid'Or from 30 cl and a same type from 15 cl., superottime. We paid € 16.90. Dear the maid who has stopped talking to us. Ideal for a quick bite for lunch, Top for its category, also thanks to a space beer, one of the best in the world, a taste for organic products and the fact that the proceeds of the Trappist beers, paid the expenses, goes to charity. Just a pity that the visits to the Abbey were closed.

  • We were amazed by this place. The English tour was very interesting and our guide was just great!! After tasting we decided to eat lunch - and it was our best meal during our trip. If you are interest...  more »
  • Only option for tour was in Dutch, English was sold out, so we chose from it. There was not much to see, apart from the beautiful surroundings. The souvenir shop was well stocked and control was one of the monks. A common challenge is that all information is in Dutch, it seems I pull down a bit

  • Notice: The opening hours are for the Monastery and restaurant/bar. For the opening hours of the brewery shop, check out the website because they differ. Very good brewery, it is worth to try the other beers (then the typical blonde, double, triple and quaddruppel) too. The Puur is a very nice and natural pilsner without anything added (no sugar, chemical balancing). For me the quaddruppel is one of my all times favorites. If you are a beer lover, it is worth to try the Oak aged quaddruppel. It is very expencive but such high end quality and excuisit taste that it is worth to try it once or buy one for a special occasion. From all the trappist monastaries I have been, this one has a really nice setting and espacially the interior square and park are very nice to enjoy. The food in the restaurant is grate, although slightly overpriced.
  • Very cool. The brewery is on the grounds of a functioning Abbey with monks and all! Worth going for the restaurant/bar alone. Amazing beer, amazing food, and especially bread which is made from the leftovers of the brewing process. The reason I give it 4 stars is because of the tour. There was no tour in English, but they did give us booklet so we could follow along, but from what I understood of the Dutch, they followed it quite closely. Usually when I would go on a tour I would expect there to be extra tidbits of information or cool little extras, but everything you learn from the tour could be compressed into a small pamphlet
  • Don't get me wrong. I love Trappist beer including La Trappe. But the brewery's tour is NOT in ENGLISH WITHOUT saying it will be ONLY in Dutch. They could have clearly state about this or make an option for a non-Dutch to still experience this wonderful culture of the monastery and the process of its world-famous beer by providing an occasional English brewery tour. I don't think it would be too hard to add a few lines in their website mentioning about it.
  • I can definitely convert to that beer
  • Excellent beer, nice atmosphere, and many interesting things to learn. What else do you need?
