#2 of 9 in Outdoors in Drenthe Province
Assen is the only venue to have held a round of the Motorcycle World Championship every year since its creation in 1949. The circuit was purpose built for the Dutch TT in 1955, with previous events having been held on public roads. The track is narrow, with rapid changes in direction, and is fully surrounded by grass banks and grandstands, providing excellent viewing for the hundreds of thousands of fanatical spectators who are drawn to the most prestigious event in Dutch motorsport every year. A huge favourite with riders, Assen is well known for its festive and extravagant atmosphere.

  • Highly recommended for everyone! Even though you're not a truck enthusiast! The atmosphere and ambiance which there hangs during the caravan-race and other races is grandiose! Really a SUPER day!

  • TT Assen and development in classes the TT (Tourist Trophy) is an annual motor race at the Assen Circuit van Drenthe in Assen. Starting from 2016, the TT Assen held on the last Sunday in June, formerly it was traditionally held on the last Saturday of June. All Grand Prix classes. By the contraction of the number of classes are now Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP. Formerly made 50 cc/cc, 250 cc, 125 80 cc, 350 cc, 500 cc and sidecars. For some years, the sidecar class held in a separate Championship, but makes it no longer a member of the Grand Prix. Shafts with a history of nearly 100 years In 1922 became the motorcycle club ' Assen en Omstreken "was founded at the beginning of 1925 to a road race. With the new engine-and cycle ¬ law of 1924 was offered the opportunity to request a waiver to races on the open road. The construction of a new road between Rolled and Borger was for President Dieters of the motorcycle club Assen en Omstreken reason to think again about a road race. The TT from 1927 officially an international competition even though not all famous riders of that time took part in the contest because it is sandwiched between the TT of Man and the Grand Prix of Germany. 14,000 spectators came on the third edition, which was labeled by the organizers as successful. In 1949, the FIM for the first time in a World Championship, in which also the TT Assen was recorded. In Assen races in 3 classes were held, the 125-350-and 500 cc, the 125cc-class put 7 rounds (115.75 km); the 350 cc 15 rounds (248 km) and the 500 cc 16 rounds (264.58 km). Rossi and the TT-Assen: the 100th and the 10th Valentino Rossi with well-known nicknames Vale and The Doctor (Urbino, 16 February 1979) is an Italian Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. He is a son of former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer Graziano Rossi. Valentino Rossi has 9 world titles and more than 100 Grand Prix victories to his name and is one of the most successful motor racing drivers ever. Rossi won his 100th GrandPrix at Assen victory in 2009. Now, in 2017 book Rossi his 10th victory (in all classes) on shafts. Good to both victories of near to witness. Extra nice to be invited as a VIP in 2017 at Assen and have access to all locations, the pit, the TT-Tower and the paddock. The 110,000 spectators got small again where for their coming during the MotoGP in 2017. More exciting could not. • It's the TT circuit at Assen, it's everything that you expect of this iconic world famous venue. On the bucket list of every motorcycle racing fan and doesn't disappoint when you get here. Great place.
  • Been here for the TT. Great organization, beautiful circuit and stages. Coming years, I'll definitely be going to the TT again! Parking was huge but also came with huge traffic jams. However, that is impossible to avoid when going to a TT.
  • Great place to watch motoGP, awesome atmosphere and a lot of people. One drawback was the lack of waste bins, everyone threw their trash on the ground. We took the car to the track on Saturday and Sunday morning and had no trouble getting in and park the car. It didn't take more than 10 to 15 minutes from you left the freeway until you had parked the car. That parking was very well organized. When driving towards Amsterdam after the race it was a long queue, so we took a detour to avoid the traffic.
  • I like the new tribune they've built. Always bring earplugs! If it isn't for the race you will want it for the speakers. Would have been nice if they placed a few more TV's around the circuit. Other than the one at the main tribune.
  • We got there early so we wouldn't have so many traffic problems. Picking up our tickets was easy and finding a good spot to sit was okay, get there EARLY if you have General Admission tickets. Lots of good spots for viewing. Traffic getting out was not to bad, but for 45km after the track the bikes did not help and caused about 95% of the traffic problems. A disappointment was how much trash was all over the grounds, horrible!! Plus the stairs are at an angle so when it rains they fill up!! Not so great, since it almost always rains. All in all it was a great time.
