History Museum Museum
Witness the history of Dutch resistance to German occupation during World War II at Verzetsmuseum. This site tells the story of the Netherlands and its people from May 1940 to May 1945, when Nazi forces occupied the country. Discover the museum's permanent exhibit, which recreates everyday life for Dutch people in the 1930s and 1940s. Experience the feeling of walking down German-occupied streets in the Netherlands, and learn about small acts of resistance and larger historical moments of opposition during this time. Every country has its own piece of World War II history to share, and this museum is a wonderful place to learn about the Dutch perspective. • The Dutch Resistance Museum was really informative and interesting. We really enjoyed hearing about both the main path through WWII and could dive deeper in a particular subject in the side rooms. A must see in Amsterdam.
  • I real eye opener for me. So impressed by the Dutch people during the war. The variety of displays and artifacts is wide ranging. The stories told are many and very informative. An excellent history lesson for me. I would recommend this museum to anyone wishing to learn what occupation of a country means to the occupied!
  • Lots of great individual stories that all ages can learn from. It is a difficult task of telling youth about wwii without frightening them... this place does that by focusing on the courageous... calling for you to imagine being brave, not afraid. Well done!
  • Worth the visit to discover a side of the war you never hear as an American. Definitely take the time to explore it all. I would highly recommend it.
  • Got quickly bored by the museum. Indeed the Dutch people did well to resist the German invaders , and that is all the exhibition talks about. And photographs of traitors and collaborators too. I don't have anything that I can say I learnt from the visit. The message that they are trying to put across does not sink in. Perhaps because I am not Dutch? Maybe!
