Take advantage of great photo backdrops from one of Amsterdam's historic bridges, go for a stroll or a bike ride by the water, or have a coffee at a riverside cafe. No matter your choice, you'll never be too far away from The Amstel. The river is the soul of the city, and along with multiple canals, it greatly influences the city's layout and gives it its distinctive look and atmosphere. A dam on the river gave Amsterdam its name. Residents and visitors flock to the river these days for many different events, such as the annual Liberation Day concert, rowing races, and the Canal Parade. Take a boat tour for one of the most popular ways to experience the river. • One of the many, many gorgeous canals in Amsterdam. They are all worth visiting but this is one of the busiest and action-packed.
  • Is worth losing some time if the weather is cold and windy. Motor ships are warm and welcoming. The audio guides are useful and you can rest after walking around the city. The tour is free with the Amsterdam card
