Singel, Amsterdam

4.5
#4 of 8 in Nature in Amsterdam
Until the Middle Ages, Singel--a picturesque canal--surrounded the Dutch capital. After the city expanded, the canal continued to act as a moat around the city center, and today it is the innermost canal of Amsterdam's ring of famous canals. Running from the IJ lake near the city's central train station to Muntplein Square, where the water joins the Amstel River, the canal cuts through the city center, passing many significant tourist attractions. You'll see part of the infamous Red Light District along its banks, as well as a house that claims to be the narrowest in the world at only 1 m (3.3 ft) wide. Amsterdam's popular flower market, Bloemenmarkt, includes market stalls aboard boats in the canal. Make your Amsterdam itinerary with Inspirock to find out what to see and where to go.

You can find here of course a canal, bridges and tries - so typical for Amsterdam. It is worth to sit down outside in one of restaurant or bar and just enjoy the the atmosphere  more »

Just fantastic. Great food and very good vegetarian options. We went in for sandwiches and what we got was just incredible. I loved the brown bread with vegetables and red pepper hummous. Must try the homemade lemonade with mint and orange too!

Great value for food! Try their fried eggs for the typical Dutch taste or the sandwiches for a healthier option.

I was recommended by another tourist I'd met in another city who called them the "best sandwiches EVER." Indeed they turned out to be amazing sandwiches! Very sweet staff. It was hard to not make this a regular lunch visit during my short stay in Amsterdam.

One of my favorite lunch places; very reasonable prices, good taste, terrace on the canal and always wonderful service by the friendly ladies working there.

The food here is amazing with very generous portions. Excellent brunch option.
