  • Amsterdam is located near Amsterdam Central Station (while standing with your back to the station on the left, a few hundred meters only). It is worth seeing because of the one-of-a-kind and unique architecture. Also on the list of 100 most important historical buildings of the Netherlands as a prominent example. the Amsterdam school. Erected at the site of the historic (hence embarked in 1595 the first Dutch expedition to the East Indies, laying the Foundation for the power of the Netherlands), after the demolition of 13 buildings, from 1913-1916. It was designed as a functional office building for a group of companies engaged in maritime trade. Their flag to today still flying up on the building. It was built of specially burnt bricks, m.in. to change the colour and is full of maritime symbolism. Relief sculptures on the outside to symbolize marine Empire Holland, around the main entrance sculptures of women symbolize the oceans. Be sure to watch just the main entrance, referring also to the symbolism of the ship and the internal staircase in the art deco style. In the building from 2007. operates hotel Amrath (we spent a couple of days, I recommend) and its common parts are available to the public. It is worth to watch the original design, the beautiful skylight over the staircase, decorated glass in the stairwell. You can look on the hotel's corridors reminiscent of the ship's deck. I recommend at least on the occasion of the afternoon coffee.

  • One of the masterpieces of the "Amsterdamse school" today has been converted into a luxury hotel and visit the magnificent interiors had to book a guided tour directly at the reception. The tour closes-you choose by time of visit-with a drink, lunch or dinner, high tea and prices start from €34.50 giving the possibility to buy tickets discounted by fifty percent for the Museum Het Schip. Otherwise you can narrow down to the lobby and outside. The building was built between 1912 and 1916 by the architect Van der Mey as the headquarters of the most important shipping companies in Amsterdam. The beautiful interior works among many artists, Krop, Kramer and De Klerk. Not to be missed.

  • The shipping House an old building with a rich maritime history, the old replica of a ship from that time is next to the beautiful building, nice to also check out the ship from the inside, once inside you see that how they worked and have lived on at the time such a ship.. Nice to view

  • A good place to hide from the rain, this is a decent maritime museum. Not the best, but enjoyable. In particular seeing the monarchs craft (in its own building out back) and playing with the houseboat (figuring out a furniture layout that is livable without capsize is really a challenge) were both highlights.
  • Shipping museum great place to enjoy history of Amsterdam. Also great for kids.
  • Former Shipping Hall of Amsterdam, now 5 star hotel Grand hotel Amrath. You can visit the inside as non-hotel guest in the restaurant or with a tour, which are provided by Amsterdam School Museum the ship.

  • Fantastic hotel, a model of restoration of offices at the hotel, while maintaining the original structures and the original decoration. Fabulous.
