It was built in 2001 and won the International Footbridge Award in 2002. The bright red bridge spans 90 meters and was designed by Adriaan Geuze of the architectural firm West 8. The bridge has stairs, requiring bicycles to be pushed on a stairway ramp. The visually similar Lage Brug is nearby. It is similar but without the high elevation, which allows cyclists to ride over it.

  • We come to see this bridge by a tram from the Centraal Station and walk about 20 minutes. It is true that the bridge is slightly away from the Centre, but is a good option for lovers of the architecture and civil engineering and also to go out and explore other neighborhoods that are not those of the Center. The downside is that, when we went, not we could cross the bridge since there is to do the catwalk that will walk people. Otherwise, all good, the area is very quiet and you have several options to return to the City Centre (tram, bus...), there are Albert Heijn nearby where you can buy food or whatever you need.

  • Very unique in its architecture and place in a friendly neighbourhood outside the usual tourist destinations, so much so that even many locals know exactly the location. Unfortunately it is closed for renovation and not siuo cross. In any case worth a visit

  • The Netherlands has been modest, but in terms of design is innovative. This bridge is one of them. It is located slightly East from Amsterdam city pedestrian bridge is the wavy shape of the bridge. It's the modern version of the kintai bridge in Japan. Red Steel-Yuji is impressive. But unlike Japan, reasonable purpose. Where the boats pass by, is something.
