  • Lovely little experience during our Amsterdam trip. Open 1-3 (not Wed). You can go aboard and see/interact with a group of cats that live on the boat permanently -and see a range of cats/kittens looki...  more »
  • Cats Protection's Office was located either on foot or from the Amsterdam Central station, it took me five hours. In the Canal, so not great facilities. I think efforts a good cat is not good I have such facilities reduces the damage of stray cats.

  • Very unexpectedly, even though Amsterdam is business as usual: ship-cat shelter. Boat with cat pictures on the water is open from 13 to 15, you can look at the animals, to treat them. Kitties are all good, well-maintained. You can also leave a donation for the upkeep of the animals.

  • If you love cats and happen to be in Amsterdam, don't miss this one. It's a floating cat-shelter! Entrance is free, or you could donate how much you feel like and the money would go to the cats. There are some cats that are permanently live here, so they are not adopted out, but they also have cats in cages that are looking for new home, so if you live in Amsterdam and want a cat, don't shop but adopt from here - I see some kittens as well. The opening hours might be limited, but that's because they don't want the cats to be upset as they just let people in without limitation. Most cats are docile and enjoy pets / attention but there is one (that we were warned not to touch) that is rather angry all the time.
  • Fun place where you can play a cat inside a boat house. If you like cat, I recommend this place. Don't forget to donate some money. They have a good cause, save lost cats
  • My daughter loves cats and was very excited to visit Poezenboot sanctuary. A fantastic facility on a floating barge. A must visit.
  • Nice place to pet cats. Good location. Nice and hosting attitude. Great experience.
  • The visibility and uniqueness of Poezenboot raises awareness about acquiring pets, that there are many animals that need our love that are willing to love us back, regardless of their age. Due to its location on the canal, Poezenboot is a bit of a tourist destination, but a free one. They sell a variety of merchandise that supports their operation and are quirky souvenirs.
