Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, Amsterdam

4.6
#75 of 193 in Nightlife in Amsterdam
Catch a performance or simply view the modern architecture at Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, a concert hall for classic and contemporary music that also features regular art shows. Opened in 2005, this Danish-designed building with movable chairs and acclaimed acoustics imposes itself upon the waters of the IJ, offering a visual treat to spectators. The upper floor houses a computer-aided sound garden for children and there is a seafood restaurant from which you can take in the view of the IJ. Intensely lit at night, the building makes quite a spectacle in the dark with its reflection in the water. Yet another example of great modern architecture located on the river Ij. All objects in this area make up the rounded-off together and interacted both with the building of the railway station or IJdock.

In front of the modern concert hall can be reached by tram 26. The ticket (€19) you can buy and print in advance. The price of the ticket is included in the still provisional. The Conservatory Orchestra in the program was Wagner, Debussytä and interesting Peter Eötvösin book Speaking in Drums. Certainly worth the experience.

Love this place: the location, the view, the architecture,... You can enter for free inside the building to visit it and enjoy the view of central station and the eye. Outside you can also sit and chill when the weather is nice. And it is a great venue for music, they usually do a lot of interesting concerts. The program is usually more modern classical, electronic, jazz music.
