Magere Brug, Amsterdam

(3.9/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
One of the most iconic drawbridges in a city of waterways, Magere Brug stretches over the Amstel River to help connect the city. Though the present structure wasn't built until 1934, its white wooden design replicates the historical bridge that proceeded it. Enjoy a stroll over the river and soak up the city center's bustling atmosphere. Use of the bridge is limited to pedestrians and cyclists; it opens several times a day to allow boats through along the river. • This bridge is one of the efficient peculiarity of Amsterdam, saw that stands up to the passage of vessels, like so many other small bridges in the city. In addition to this, personally I think it makes much better its beauty at night when it is lit up and gives it a romantic air, since the day it hits particularly if not for the fact that it is. Let us a nice evening walk

  • It's such a wonderful place. Don't miss out on it
  • Well, it's a bridge. A pretty one, but still a bridge. Just go check it out, if you are close by.
  • One of the more famous (historical) bridges in Amsterdam. The view is amazing, no other place to see along the Amstel this well.
  • The local lore has it that this bridge was commissioned by two sisters that lived on opposite banks of the Amstel and wanted to see each other more often. On a sunny summer day, I highly recommend experiencing Amsterdam by boat. Not one of those tours, but by small pleasure craft. You'll see a completely different side of the city
  • Wanna take a cliche instagram picture of Amsterdam? Get thousands of likes on facebook? Wanna be internet famous? Come over here with your selfie stick. Also a great entry level climb for beginner cyclists plus you can be super duper unique by proposing to your girlfriend on this bridge. This bridge is awesome, it's made out of wood and it's got cute little lights on it. Overall 5/5 experience, visit this beautifull piece of infrastructure every single day (about 10 times). Never skip leg day!
