  • On a beautiful day to Castle Amerongen raised. Were nice on first time and a cup of coffee on the terrace at kasteel (Restaurant Bentinck). Visit in the castle itself is only possible with a guide (volunteers). Specified for the tour by 12:00. Fun tour with many explanations. The tour begins with a film about the history of the Castle. The original (first) Castle is unfortunately by the French in February 1673 set on fire and destroyed. The "new" Castle is rebuilt in 1673 to 1680 which among other things the architect Kuypers (Amsterdam Central train Station) is on. The Castle has many rooms and a whole in the State when the last residents left (1977) Especially the space where volunteers all repair or with tools bring its former State was very interesting. The residents have donated to the Foundation in 1977 the Castle Amerongen Castle. We have had a fun day with the visit to the Castle and grounds.

  • Beautiful castle which is beautifully situated in the meadows. Beautiful library, beautifully painted wallpaper and beautiful globelins. Normally only visit with guided tour but in the summer months on the third Sunday of the month also free to visit. The attendants will tell you all you want to know. Also the gardens are worth a visit. For the children there is a treasure hunt.

  • Didn't have much time to go inside so only walked around in the garden. It's beautiful castle from outside, surrounded by water. Yes, we're looking forward to come back again.  more »

  • Nice to see 12 Euro seems to be a little much. But everything looked very good preserved and maintained!
  • Rich with history, from the 15th century to the early 20th with the visit of Kaiser Wilhelm II, where he abdicated. Some items inside the castle aren't in great shape any more, and to further preserve them, climate is strictly regulated. Beware that in the winter, it is very cold inside! You can only go in with a guided tour, which is included in the ticket price; I believe the last opportunity is 4pm. The museum is also covered by the national museum card. Friendly staff and nice grounds as well. Museum café is superb!
  • Beautiful castle and gardens. The history goes back to the middle ages, but the medieval castle was burned to the ground by French king Louis XIV. The 'new' castle dates from around 1680 and was redecorated by architect Cuypers around 1900, in which state it now can be seen. A lot of restauration has been carried out during the past years, but they are not there yet... Gives a realistic view on the high costs and efforts that comes with old houses though. Castle and gardens are however lovingly maintained by 'angels' and 'garden gnomes', who do a great job. Our guide was well informed, but a bit in a hurry (so I did not have the time to see everyting I wanted to see) due to the group that was to follow ours (probably a private tour followed by a party). Also a very fine location for weddings. Concerts (early music, jazz) are being organised at the castle grounds as well as fairs.
  • Really nice castle. With plenty of hiking routes around the old city of Amerongen.
  • Nice guided tour of 1,5 hour
