  • It's more of a walk in the forest as a national park. We go down to the beach by a rather steep path, the beach is not really grandiose or clean, but there are showers (?) The day of our visit to the park employees had records in stagnant water points, themselves were surprised by the number of mosquito larvae, they could quantify. The back is a little stiff, really little interesting and attention to mosquitoes and their poisoned gift. 200 Thb for it, it's cheap

  • Beautiful relatively small National Park in the Khao Lak area. Not too many wildlife here but a nice weekend getaway - especially Hat Lek / Small Sandy Beach is really worth a visit. Entrance Fee: 200 Baht for Foreigners.
  • A very nice place. It takes about 2 hours for a two-way walk.
  • Bear left and keep walking around the headland to a secluded lovely beach. Take swimwear, food and drink.
  • Small Sandy Beach is worth fee 200 baht (for non-Thai, Thai's pay 20 baht). There is beverage (cole, fanta & water) and ice cream kiosk run by rangers at the beach (however on my first visit in the afternoon it was closed). Nature trail along the shore is nothing special but it's 1.5 km only so take it anyway. If sea is calm then visibility in the water is good enough for snorkeling.
  • 200 baht per person, great hiking, better have good shoes (more comfortable!). The beach is nice. The view point is accessible, and I would say I worth it. I still think that 200 baht are a little high, but... nice park anyway.

Where to stay in Takua Pa

Takua Pa offers a few good options for overnight stays, though visitors tend not to do this unless absolutely necessary. You can rent air-conditioned, clean, no-frills rooms in the heart of town in midrange and economy lodgings. Do bring a phrasebook, as staff in a lot of places will speak minimal English. Head to the more heavily touristed environs of nearby Khao Lak for a wider range of choices to suit different needs.
