  • Even after a long time, it is important to remember how many people in the tsunami in 2004 were killed. And Yes, the Memorial is not so neat... but who want to do this? and especially pay? (it's free to come here also no admission) I found it interesting, moving and sad (especially if you look at the tiles and the victims get a face) very near are the two ships, which then swept ashore. There is now a new Memorial

  • A nice little park at sea with the monument of the tsunami and its victims. There is a small museum with photos after the tsunami, a large Buddha statue and a Memorial wave with the engraved names of the victims. Our taxi driver showed us the two big fishing boats several hundred meters from the sea.

  • It's not massive but big enough to get around with a struggle if using walking sticks. It was sad seeing the photos and even more so the wall of remerance. The big Buddha was was great to see as an ac...  more »

  • The 2004 tsunami was a devastating event, killing thousands and ruining homes and the local economy along the coast. This memorial does not do it or those who suffered justice. There is a largely empty pavilion with some faded photographs of the great and good national and international leaders inspecting the devastation but more deserves to be done to show what happened and how the area recovered. Also on site: a large and impressive Buddha figure and a faded concrete sculpture
  • Very sad place by walking through this historic alley, reading name by names made my heart crying. It is nature who always wins everything.
  • A beautiful site with a tiny museum and a Buddha statue directlly at the seaside was built here (financed by employes and the german company Thyssen Krupp) to give the local people a place to remember and maybe digest what happend in the past. There are small foodstalls here as well as public toilets. Beautiful view to Koh Koh Khao.
  • One should visit to remember the lives lost... and devastation the Tsunami caused...
  • A memorial park to those lost in the tsunami in 2004, okej to visit just to say you've been there. There is really no activity there, a small restaurant, some food and snacks stands, a toilet and a small gallery with photos related to the disaster. Directions: To get there ride your motorbike towards Takua Pa and take a left by the Police kiosk in Ban Bang Nuang and after that follow the signs.
