Khao Sok National Park, Surat Thani

(4.1/5 based on 850+ reviews on the web)
Trek through the dramatic scenery of Khao Sok National Park, one of the oldest rainforests in the world and the wettest spot in Thailand. Jagged rock formations extend 300-600 m (984-1,969 ft) upward from Cheow Lan Lake with luscious green vegetation clinging to their sides and waterfalls tumbling from them. Elephants, tigers, tapirs, deer, boars, bears, gibbons, macaques, and many more wild animals roam the jungle (some 5 percent of the world's species in total). Take a boat across the lake, and follow winding trails that crisscross the park as you admire the bounteous flora and fauna. Flash floods, leeches, and slippery ground make the wet season significantly more dangerous, but some may wish to risk the hazards for the increased likelihood of spotting the big animals who become more active during this period. Plan your visit to Khao Sok National Park and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Surat Thani travel itinerary planner.

  • We did a 2d/1n tour to the lake, it was very expensive for what we got. The bungalow we stayed was nice, and of course we did see some nice things, but not worth2.500THB. One day would have been enoug...  more »
  • Never has the chance to cruise the nature of the Park, which also is abundant. Feeling the love brothers and boating trips a lot Bothered to explain something, we love nature, Loei.

  • For the frame, it's like in the movie Avatar. Lush jungle, beautiful Lake outside of the swarm of tourists. For the Agency KhaoSok Asia, we have been in contact with Sylvain upstream for the organization. He made clear the basic side of the bungalows. Small improvements could be made to make this summary but secure (hole in the bungalow where we can move the foot, access...) Transfers and the Organization very well happened. On-site, we saw not a mass of animals, but this is the game of safaris. You see a lot more side hotels in the Park (e.g., Rock and Tree) a little rough guide but it will. Very good meals. No alcohol on site. The canoes available, children were thrilled. I think he lacks a little more to do a little bit the difference: a break coffee break during the morning safari a few minutes in the middle of the jungle. Or conversely small drink sunset at the night safari. It's not big and it would be a magic stop in a beautiful place. A bit like that happens in Africa or in other places. Other info: avoid the weekend, I had the impression of being at the heart of a Thai camp came with packs of beers and chips for partying. Too bad, the place called so quiet. Ask your contact if this is the case when you come. In conclusion, the place is magical.
