Si Satchanalai Historical Park, Sukhothai
(4.6/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
Visit the cradle of Thai civilization at Si Satchanalai Historical Park, a World Heritage Site featuring the ruins of the former city of Si Satchanalai. The ancient city was the second city in the Sukhothai Kingdom, and the residence of the crown prince in the 13th and 14th century. Today the site documents early Thai architecture, sculpture, and art. Wander the grounds to see ancient Buddha figures, palace buildings, and ruined temples, all in a setting of deep green trees, bushes, and lawns. You can tour the ruins on foot, by bike, or take a leisurely tram ride. Our Sukhothai holiday planner makes visiting Si Satchanalai Historical Park and other Sukhothai attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • The bus to Chang Rai you can take in the bus station stops at the entrance to the park. At one of the shops you can rent a bicycle. Through the gate and a suspension bridge to get to the first remote temple. It has 2 kilometer cycling for you at the real park arrives. It's really the effort and you are here alone. Beautiful temples in a quiet area. You have a bus back to Sukotthai to 14 hours and 16 hours. The cycling landlord plant than a mauve flag as a sign that the bus should stop. Please be advised that the bus is delayed. We had to make a part of the ride standing because the bus more than was full.

  • Amazing day in the parc surrounded by nature .. just an amazing place to be ! Don't be mistaken and think there is just one monument and ask for the historical park (3km away after the first ruins). T...  more »
  • Interesting place, not inferior to Sukhotaju itself, is about 50 km. from the city. You can get there by bus or rental car, plan your trip for the whole day.

  • Great historical park; not quite as perfect and big as the ones in sukhothai and ayutthaya, but still fantastic; rent a bicycle to visit the widespread area!
  • Staying at Legendha Sukhothai resort in Old Town area. It takes less than an hour to get to Si Satchanalai Historical Park. The view along the route is pleasant. Green rice paddies everywhere and can see some local events along the way. This heritage site is a must visit place as well as Sukhothai Historical Park.
  • It's a tranquil and peaceful place fit for a walk (maybe better in winter) and a bicycle ride.
  • great overlooked park.
  • Great ambiente and very secluded. Nicr place to visit in combination with Sukhothai
